It's hard to find the server that does not do map votes.
Wouldn't mid seeing hog do no map votes.

I want to play more of

Bihar canyons. (I had best rounds in 1.0 so far.)

Shijia Valley. My fave. At least in my top ten faves.

Burning sands. Definently #3 of my fave maps

Marlin INS+AAS
very good. Really makes the French faction nice.
That's true because such servers can't compete with mapvoteable servers and so it's not exist now (maybe). Hard to make maplist in which every part will be funny to play. So problem exactly in given choice in mapvote.

OMG.

Thank you.

As a matter in fact. Before 1.1.1 came out. I was talking to this new player in my Recon Squad. I was asking him about Burning Sands INS and that. He was like, what are those?

So, the new players have no true PR experience. The same guy said that he isn't gonna play PR. He actually didn't know there are like 30+ maps.

He thought the mod only had like 10.

ipuppydough on CIA actually had Ghost Train play. My god. BEST ROUND I HAVE HAD IN 1.0 in a while.

I think that maybe the Devs could set up a PR OFFICIAL SERVER or something.
They would have control of maps and that.

But I know it's pricey.

Fallujah isn't played often either.

Guys, don't turn this into a suggestion thread either.

Did you ACTUALLY just say that?!

I don't know about you but I see that map about 2-3 times a day or more.

Maybe it's the time to put back no rotation map server like the CIA with Kokan and Hog with Muttrah

T.A.Sharps wrote:My idea of a good match up is not to bring all players down to a level where they are inept at interpreting their environment and working out tactics.

Being able to know every inch of Muttrah or Kokan enables all the players to be the best they can be on the map.

Newer players would be able to learn tactics and game play better when the map isn't different every time changing the situation.
That might be true a handful of times but after 4 or more years of the same map and after two 24/7 servers they are bound to turn into no brainers. I used to quit whenever a map loaded up I played multiple times that week, simply because I already knew every possible scenario of how the game would play out. There was no thrill anymore. It is true that after some time every map will suffer from that but the more you keep it mixed up the less you are likely to get stuck in an endless repetitive loop of always doing/thinking/expecting the same.

The lack of certain maps/layers (f.ex Kashan 16 has to be one of the most teamwork promoting layers in PR) is, among others, a reason why I stopped playing PR.

Furthermore I highly doubt anyone is lost on a PR map just because he hasn't played it that often and that that will have a negative impact on his play style. If that really is the case, I just find it even more sad, seeing how most maps have been in for YEARS!?!?! and you saying you don't know them is quite terrible tbh.

As much as I love sunset, I know that map by heart, like literally every freaking brick stone. While I'd love to play that map from time to time, I don't see myself playing it more often than once a week tops.

Variety is the spice of life.

Not sure if sarcasm.....

Honestly, that is the most overplayed INS map (along with Al Basrah), I don't understand how you could say that.

I have never played Burning Sands INS or Black Gold INS... server admins never put it for vote even when heaps of people suggested it.

CrazyHotMilf: can you release PR 1.0 today cause its my birthday and i want to play it ? because its gonna be very nice and every thing

This topic has such a negative pretense, why not look at the maps that are underplayed and figure out why they are less popular and address the issue from that angle instead of continually outlining the problems.

Now it seems that a number of posters in this thread are newer then a lot of us forum lurkers (generally the more opinionated of the bunch), this is skewing what maps we feel are overplayed with those that are actually hit on 2-3 times a day and have been for years and year.

Not to say these overplayed maps aren't well designed and fun to play, it's just that you can only have a limited number of possibilities based on the combat environment and for most of the older players we have tried it all. This results in a large pool of players knowing and using the same tactics that have been validated through years of experimenting. We are now at a point where the more experienced players have applied and re-applied these strategies so often there is not much left for the thrill of the unknown.

Muttrah and Kashan are perfect examples. As MEC on Muttrah you know the routes to take to avoid CAS Huey rape, and the CAS Huey knows the same routes. This results in deployments being generally the same exact thing every time the round starts, and more often then not the outcome is generally the division on west/north city. This is accepted and despite there being a few tricks to avoid the dull push and pull of North/West city (the new flag layout addressed this actually) generally every Muttrah round plays out the same way with the ensuing fighting being a repeat of last time.

Kashan is even worse as there is very little in the way of maneuvering without being spotted, and as such there is basically no way to be surprised on this map (especially with a commander, despite not having the laser designator). Sure tanks will have little tussles for positions in either the center mountain range or the hills and ditches that flank the west of the bunker objectives. Beyond that the infantry moves to the exact same bunkers doing the exact same thing that has been done for 6+ years.

There are plenty of beautifully original locals and places of interest left in this game, but they are hidden in the forests of Wanda Shan, sprinkled around the hills of Quinling (rip) and other forgotten maps like Berentz Invasion (I wish someone could address the oddly colored snow issue), not in the sterile alleys of Muttrah or the rubbish filled roads of Fallujah.

This is as much a problem of the players as the admins. The guys in charge of keeping their server full, fun, and functional are catering to the same people who are replying to this thread. So next time you see suggestions for map votes stop requesting the same map that was played every night this week and take a chance on suggesting a hidden gem. Closed mouths don't get fed.

What annoys me most is Kozelsk. I hate the map. I usually quit whenever it is loaded. Why? Because 95% of all layouts include tunnels which completely ruins the round. Its fun once in a while but not every god damn time. Id say this map is even more repetitive (gameplaywise) than Muttrah. Either the round ends with russians not being able to get into tunnel or the round ends shortly after the russians took tunnel. In my entire PR gaming history I have NEVER really fought over the big *** bunker facilities in the middle of the map. Which are far more detailed, bigger and more complex than the tunnel on the edge of the map. Why in god's name devs did not change the layouts for this map already in the past years? This map is such a waste with so much potential. I only remember like 2 time where the southern facility flag was in play for like 10minutes until the round was over..

Similar thing with Khamisiyah, why do the mappers put the most detailed and beautiful place of the map next to the MEC main? I mean the whole map consists of some bunkers and sand and then you got that awesome oasis and the whole city and all this vegetation. Must have taken most of the time modding this part and then you just throw it in the edge of the map to make sure that no one will ever fight there. Devs why yu do dis.

I wasnt about to weigh in on this convo since it ahs been done over and over again... Hoever the Khamisiyah part, i totally agree with spook. When i saw screens of that city it was the best thing evar. Ofcourse all you play for real is another kashan.

You know what i would do? A layer with militia holding that city and all other flags and MEC need to work their way in from the start. Would be some kind og uprising/civil war thing with MEC interfering to calm things down.

If you guys have feedback on maps, then post them on the feedback section of forums please.

Could a moderator change the title to Overplayed/Underplayed Maps?

That would be good :)

As a long PR player. I would say the most underplayed is

Yamalia

A lot of the maps are underplayed simply because people are unable to adapt their tactics to it. Just walking from defending to attacking flag doesn't work on every map. Yamalia is a perfect example of this - a well organized 2 men squad, moving from cover to cover and crawling as soon as they have visual on the enemy usually does better that 8 man squads just walking around. But because people are unable to adapt they will moan and ***** about the map being shit...

Khamisayah now has a alt layer focusing on the city guys :) But as matty says, reserve your mapfeedback for the responsible threads. Otherwise they are unlikely to get heard.

Yamalia Tactics...

You must use Transportation and Assets effectively or you will get your butts kicked.
Must have "Fortress FOB's" at flags you are defending.

Fortress FOB's are basically EVERY asset the Squad Leader can deploy. (Can Include mortars if he wants to operate them)

SPEAKING OF YAMALIA.

I was on it like 2 weeks ago. Some squad had a sq name: "SHITMAP"

I have to kind of say this. But it seems like a lot of people in PR are spoiled.
(I know I will get banged for that, but It's my point of view)

But I gotta add in to the play...

Underplayed Maps.

Definently Black Gold CNC

Most of the times, map selection is down to human nature. We pick what we know - and avoid the unknown.

When admins ask for suggestions, people call out maps they can remember, and hence since they can remember the maps they often play, it gets overplayed. Its an evil circle.

HOG has done something I wish other players/servers would do. They have placed a list of all the maps and layouts in the their TS channel, so when asked for suggestion, pick the map you dont remember, the map where you dont know all the places to defend or build fobs.

An example is Ghost train. Small map but fun I think. Most players end up having a shoot out at north/south bridge. The majority of players, I feel, dont know that there are 2 land bridges where you can get a logi across and build fobs on the other side of the river. So it ends up as a stale fight aross the river. Hence most players think its a shitty map.

Adapt and overcome!

Lol, makes sense.

So I think someone should make a youtube video(s) about maps in PR.

Maybe if someone was gutsy, make 40 minute long video .

Describing and having 'footage' of every map.

I think every server can only play a map like Muttrah Once a day.

But still, I think PR would die if that happened.

So PR is just gonna be Muttrah, Barasah, Dovre, and that for the rest of the time of PR's life?

They need to change it. Or it's just gonna turn out like Counter Strike.
