If I am a squad leader of a full sq (8 man) and I name it M-Inf.

Am I allowed to use an APC or IFV to support my squad with the driver and gunner as squad members and the rest Inf?

DB and I wanted to run some mechanized inf the other night but were afraid that the act of working together would be against the rules.

Nicely formulated there, Cougar. Not sure if we need that attitude in the server.

To answer your question: if there are no other squads claiming that asset before you, and you name your squad appropriately as to the asset you're claiming, OR you clear it with the asset squad in question, there should be no issue.

Very good games tonight, we did a lot of INF layers, I had a blast. Thanks to all who participated.

I don't understand your attitude point.

I now understand your rules.

Yay! Good to see the admins experimenting with the other layers. There's so much waiting for you guys past the typical STD layers. :)

I think the INF layer in Kashan is one of the best map/layer combos in the game. Kind of weird because I think a lot of people see it as a heavy asset map. I love the small scale combat in it though. Probably my favorite map since Ochimchira was taken out. :gloomy:

Best taken out of context. :P

But I digress.

I wish the administration to be more attentive in the distribution of prohibitions.
I can not register on the forum HOG. Just got banned. Please do not lift the ban. I'm glad your actions. The proper way to go. Just answer for that? Name of the game Haski-35

Great games the last couple of days, absolutely slayed bodies this evening, the biggest danger was a certain friendly grenadier who shall go nameless! :D

Some good teamplay, Iron Ridge turned out to be alot of fun! Will visit again soon once i've completed my nursing essay :(

Howdy Hogs,

I'm doing the rounds of PR servers to see what each servers' rules are in regards to reserving assets.
There's this discussion going on in the BF2: General Discussions forum, about MECH INF squads.
Does HOG allow squads named like MEC INF/MECH 1113/MECH IFV 1/MECH INF 1/MECH NAMER to reserve a single APC/IFV for mechanised infantry purposes?

Thanks,

As long as it's well communicated, we as admins won't interfere.

I'll quote my post from above here.
If there are no other squads claiming that asset before you, and you name your squad appropriately as to the asset you're claiming, OR you clear it with the asset squad in question, there should be no issue.
Some thing to note, though: in order to clear up the confusion as to what specific name should be taken (APC, MTLB, IFV, Armour, whatever), we have a rule that simplifies this: It's either a tracked apc or a wheeled apc. This rule is not without issues, we know, but it's the simplest we can make it. So, in that spirit, try to follow these conventions when creating your mech squad: "MECH WHEELED", or simply create your squad like any of the other apc squads, but you could decide to do mech without having to name it mech.

I hope this clears up some confusion. The thing to take away here, is that if you don't 'steal' it from another squad, but communicate it clearly with the other apc squad if it exists, or create the only apc squad for that type of apc, there is no issue.

@Rudd: thanks for playing with us ;) And too bad about that certain unnamed grenadier, we've had our fair share of teamkills as well, must be because it's sunday! And now I remember why Iron Ridge INS isn't played often, we received a beating like none other.

Soz to Manibou and the gang last night. Brought up the harrier on Pavlovsk's Bay, promising great spectacle and glory, only to CTD in VTOL mode on take off.

Hats off the dbzao and Prtable.cougar for leading a pair of MECH INF squads too. That is the way project reality is meant to be played. Multiple units with a single objective, using direct comms.

Love the French rifle grenades. Managed to kill two BTRs and a BMP2 with the AT variant on Marlin!

Peace

Yeah, it took a few games to get it down properly.
For some feedback on the subject of MECH INF, I think the rules in regards to the squad names could be revised somewhat. My SL named a squad MEC MTLB on Muttrah and was ordered to disband due to incorrect squad name. The term MEC TRACKED, as required, seems a little vague to both admins and other APC/IFV squads. Would it not provide the most clarity to all parties if the squad was named MEC MTLB in the case of the standard MTLB? In the case of the 30mm autocannon variant, it'd be MEC BEAST or MEC MTLBM.
MEC BMP2M. MEC M2A2 or MEC Bradley. MEC PUMA. MEC M113.

Theres just too much room for confusion with WHEELED and TRACKED, as it doesnt really say if I'm going to drive off with an MTLB or a BMP-3.

Also, whats the rules in regards to the Mi-24 Hind?
Two weeks ago, we used the personnel carrying capacity of the Hind as an AIR mobile INF squad with direct CAS support. The experience and teamwork was exhilarating and the results amazing.
What say you, HOGs?

thanks for the input but the reason for wheeled and tracked is due to the limited number of available squads. if we did it by vehicle type then there wouldnt be enough squad slots for infantry and special squads etc.

simply put, the squad naming is to consolidate squads.

as for the hind, do it to it, its a great idea with a tremendous infantry support tool.

Super, I am a bit confused too, Is it Tracked or Wheeled only naming or by type, or is both acceptable depending on which sqd came first. Ie. if I make a MTLB sqd first, and another makes a tracked Apc sqd, who has the right to the asset?
