Are there any British "Air maps" currently being developed?

Post by X-Alt »

It seems that with the removal of Qinling, the British forces no longer have a map where their "CAS/Fighter Jets" are used. My question is, is there any maps being developed that will fill the hole and should there not be anything available, could Shija be updated with a runway to accommodate RAF aircraft (If this seems like a viable plan, I am willing to do it)?

Well, the infamous Falklands had British aircraft carrier and harriers. It would be nice if there was jets alternative layout in Burning Sands / Shija :p

Well Falklands is in-devloppement right now, it's really nice. It couldn't make it to PR 1.0 but it was in PR 0.98 IT WAS AWESOME :)

Now with regular 100p servers it's gonna rock even more :)

Considering the Alt layers of those maps already have Attack Helis, why not? Falklands was nice (I dont get why it was not played often, dat Wessex, dat slow Argentinian plane that gets shot down by an AR, dat stealing enemy kits :P ) but you still have an unused Tornado and Typhoon that seem quite good to match against the PLAAF. Imagine a 200p Falklands event, your eardrums will be destroyed in minutes :3

Shija doesn't have enough VD to make jets any feasible.

I'm still hoping for a comeback of Qinling, I had some of my best moments on it and it somewhat defined PR gameplay. Also woods and two of the less common factions.

Yeah , I miss it too :( But the flag radius was always quite annoying IMO. Soo big. Didn't really result in nice firefights. I had the best moments away from flags.

I agree with 100p, it would be more fun. Get a second Chinook and you will have plenty of INF and with 8 man squads MECHINF would be much more feasible. The only thing I would do is make the "civilized" areas larger.. I might throw myself in BF2editor and see what I can do with it (I already have it ported to 1.0, simple as fix the sp files and done). Perhaps it can have a final life as a placeholder map until a devoted mapper can get something better or remade (Battle for Qinling is to es:Qinling Mountains as Mutttrah City is to Muttrah City V2)..

Seems like, well, Shija? Wwwait, is this going to be a "Burning Sands/Mix maps" approach to a new map?
Edit: Brit deployment is too high, unlikely..

While Sangin will have air power, it isn't going to have a lot (unless you also count the transport) and then its going to be vs the Taliban who don't have any aircraft so I wouldn't call it a proper air map myself, but will be fun as hell in a different way from any other map in terms of its air power :D

That is why Command and Control is a game-mode! :)

Kashan is already having all the slots taken up. I wish Qinling would come back, I might edit it to make it moar, well "Qinlingish" (With higher elevation, moar trees, etc). After all, it was just a 4km test map before Rhino decided to make it a full map.
