Re: Builds for a PR2 Computer:DEVs? Anyone?
Since its using the cryengine, I would look for a computer that plays crysis 3 and PR well. But it's still a bit early to tell. Im predicting for early builds of PR2, since it will be mostly infantry based, the maps won't be too big either.

Just get an i7 with a GTX 760 or above combined with 8 or more gigs and you'll run circles around PR2.
Here's my rig:

I can run anything I want at full high.

Re: Builds for a PR2 Computer:DEVs? Anyone?
my (unofficial) recomendations for CE.
intel i5-4670(k for OCing) (almost same performance as an i7, half the price)
motherboard: ASUS or ASRock or GIGABYTE Z87 motherboard (most reliable firms, z87 if overclocing firendly)
GFX: GTX 760 or higher. if you plan on playing at a high res later on, get a 4GB version and you can later run in SLI for enormous res
RAM: 8GB 1600MHz minimum, reccomend 16GB 1600MHz
(if youre an AMD guy, or generally on a low budget, get an FX8120 CPU, OC it to 8350 level, get a fx990 motherboard, and atleast a R9 280x card)
ALSO, if you get a kepler based GeForce (6xx or 7xx) wait up with screen buying, as there are Gsync enabled screens coming Q1 2014. (gsync is awesome. you want Gsync)
of there is more questions, do not hesitate to PM or ask here

I agree with Doc.Pock here,
it's too early to even contemplate this.
Huge changes in SSDs (trigate, SSD as RAM), RAM (DDR4), motherboard chipsets, PSUs (thermaltake has created an ATX compatible 1000W external brick, will probably put it on sale soon) and monitors (Lightscreen, gsync , 120Hz, 144Hz, etc) are coming out before PR2,
In this year, "gaming PCs" will look more like PS4 and XBOne, meaning the days of BYO will be nearing an end.

dont forget about M.2 SSDs and direct PCIe SSDs becoming mainstream.[R-COM]LITOralis.nMd wrote:I agree with Doc.Pock here,

also, do you really think DDR4 is gonna bring much more to the table? i mean the benchmarks show almost no difference in performace now, between 1333MHz and 2400MHz ram.
im just waiting to see if broadwell brings any more PCIe lanes to the Z series, so people can acctually go for a powerfull 3/4 way SLI.

Re: Builds for a PR2 Computer:DEVs? Anyone?
We probably have seen the same DDR4 benchmarks, looks like a 12% to 18% gain for mainstream DDR4 RAM, and maybe up to 33% for high end RAM. Not a game changer, but the 'Z97" or whatever it gets called, will use it. And if Samsung doesn't tool their fab factories to make DDR4, it is going to be incredibly expensive.
The Micron M.2 SSD that was demo'ed for nex year is amazing,
as well as the SSD SATADIMM projects , giving the SSD theoretically 3 times as much bandwidth for RAM drives, and up to 500GB of RAM per PC right now.

You should say 'GTX 6XX or higher', as numerous 600 cards have more or less the same power as the 760.Doc.Pock wrote: GFX: GTX 760 or higher. if you plan on playing at a high res later on, get a 4GB version and you can later run in SLI for enormous res
The 670 for example is more powerful, and the the standard 760 has like only 1.5 or 2Gigs of RAM which would make it inferior to 600-cards with more RAM (if you're planning to play with SLi)
But then again, I don't know what your basis is :s , perhaps because it's cheaper?

Im saying the 760 instead of the 670 because it has a 256bit membus, making it a viable card for 4gb of vram, therefor lots of pixelsCareless wrote:You should say 'GTX 6XX or higher', as numerous 600 cards have more or less the same power as the 760.

Then of course is the price/performance, plus the fact the 760 is in essence a 670 rebranded, by consumer standards that is.

Re: Builds for a PR2 Computer:DEVs? Anyone?
I would look at the official Crysis 3 system requirements to get an idea of what you should be looking for in a new build to run PR2 in the future. It's a good place to start.
Minimum System Operating Requirements for PC
? Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
? DirectX 11 graphics card with 1Gb Video RAM
? Dual core CPU
? 2GB Memory (3GB on Vista)
Example 1 (Nvidia/Intel):
? Nvidia GTS 450
? Intel Core2 Duo 2.4 Ghz (E6600)
Example 2 (AMD):
? AMD Radeon HD5770
? AMD Athlon64 X2 2.7 Ghz (5200+)
Recommended System Operating Requirements for PC
? Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
? DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB Video RAM
? Quad core CPU
? 4GB Memory
Example 1 (Nvidia/Intel):
? Nvidia GTX 560
? Intel Core i3-530
Example 2 (AMD):
? AMD Radeon HD5870
? AMD Phenom II X2 565
Hi-Performance PC Specifications
? Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
? Latest DirectX 11 graphics card
? Latest quad core CPU
? 8GB Memory
Example 1 (Nvidia/Intel):
? NVidia GTX 680
? Intel Core i7-2600k
Example 2 (AMD):
? AMD Radeon HD7970
? AMD Bulldozer FX4150

I will "borrow" your PC while you look for other upgrades/builds....
But I think if you can run Crysis 3 on High, you should be good.... but I am not 100% sure. We gotta wait for the specs.

well yeah if yopu can run C3 on high, you will surely run any CE game no problems, but between different CE games there are still variables, like particle count, scene triangle counts, lighting, etc.
so its not guaranteed to be even similar to C3 when it comes out.

Re: Builds for a PR2 Computer:DEVs? Anyone?
Isn't Crysis 3 like the full potential of graphics on Cryengine?
I don't think they'll make PR so heavy.
Eitherway, modern games like BF3 don't look horrible on low/medium like PR does

Re: Builds for a PR2 Computer:DEVs? Anyone?
8320 is your savior, CE3 takes advantage of 8 cores and it is dirt cheap. All you have to do is slam a H100i, OC it to 4.8Ghz and you have a formidable rig. For the GPU I would go with a 780 or 770 4GB (R9s are all over the place in price now). With the $100+ you saved not getting a 4770K (8320+H100i=240, 4770K=$330) you can use it on a gr8 GPU.
