PR never loads (origin)

After about 6 seconds of blackness after launching the game, it plays an intro movie that I can only describe as 'laggy'. It will cut out every half second into blackness and then come back, producing an effect similar to a strobe light. The sound is also off too. After the intro is done, the dogtag mouse cursor appears and what I would guess to be menu music starts playing but its just a black screen.
One computer restart later (PRBF2.exe is apparently immune to End Process Tree) I read a help thread and try joining a server in Vanilla BF2 to create some files. Vanilla BF2 launches fine besides the EA and DICE logo also doing the strobe light effect. I go to the multiplayer tab to join a server and my ears are blasted into oblivion by a slowed down 8-bit sounding version of the vanilla menu music. Im guessing my computer was the closest thing it could be to frozen, without actually being frozen, because I couldn't do anything.

Not sure what to do now, really want to play this game. Anyone have any ideas?

So, update. I dont know what was wrong with vanilla BF2, because I literally did nothing and it works perfectly again. I did join singleplayer first but I have no idea how that would fix anything. Project Reality still doesn't work though.

edit: I recreated vanilla BF2 screwing up by deleting the files inside the cache folder, but I didn't do that the first time so...WTF.

Update your video drivers.
TURN OFF ALL overlay programs, Skype, TS3 overlay, MSI Afterburner, RAPTR, Overwolf.

Try running BF2 and PR in windowed mode, at least if it crashes it will give a popup window with the error code. With that error code, we can narrowit down if that's the situation.

Let's try a few things here,
first off, using any type of overlay program can cause this issue.
So if you run TS3 overlay, Steam overlay, Overwolf, RAPTR, MSI Afterburner, Skype, etc overlays, turn them completely off.

Second, let's clear the server favorites and server logo image cache:
Open launcher, go to support, then utilities tab. Clear Server Favorites, Server History, and Server Logo Cache. Then try re-launching.

Third, let's try running PR in windowed mode for testing:
you want to start PR in windowed mode, so when the game does the CTD it will create a popup window with the error message. With that error message, we can narrow down the problem.

1. Open PRLAuncher
2. Click Options
3. Click Video Tab if it is not open by default,
4. Lower the resolution to something smaller than your fullscreen resolution
5. UNCHECK the FullScreen tickbox
6. Click Apply
7. Then run PR, and get the error message. Either screencap or write down the error msg and post it here.

Fourth, could you please post your system specs:
1. Open PRLAuncher
2. Click Support
3. Click the "Copy to CLipboard" Button
4. Paste everything in this thread.
That will help us with troubleshooting

I dont know what it was, clearing the caches or starting in windowed mode, but it works now! Currently loading singleplayer Yamalia. I dont play with any overlays unless the game is on Steam. Thank you so much for the help!
