Just to remember to ask for advice if you don't understand part of how the game works :) Welcome to the battlefield

PR has a very steep learning curve. Prepare to die alot. Even with a 8/10 skill.
Also, don't join a squad and grab the sniper without permission. Most people hate lonewolfs in PR. You better start off with being a rifleman and slowly get the hang of the game before grabbing any special kits/vehicles/...
Make sure you have a working microphone, tell your SL you are new and you should be fine :)

And don't act like 12 years old, those are the worst kind and people trying to get rid of them...

Squirrelly's words of wisdom

1. Know your PR Manual by heart. I'm not kidding. I'm serious. Read it. Read it again. Read it again. Read it. Read it. Read it.

2. Always ask questions. Yeah, it might annoy someone eventually, but it will get you on your way quickly.

3. Start off small. I know you like the sniper - but right now, that's wayyyyy out of your reach. Your basic rifleman kit is the best way to earn the experience needed for other, more important kits - such as Sniper/Medic/etc.

4. Do you see that APC? The jet? That tank? That chopper? Leave it be. There will be time for these later, once you know PR like the back of your hand. These make or break games - so they shall be saved for the more experienced players.

5. Do not make enemies on PR. This includes arguing with your squad leaders or server admins. Apologize for accidental Teamkills (it happens - but don't make a habit of it). And if you feel the need to teamkill a friendly, because he did something that made you mad - take a breather, and step away from the game if you must.

Hope you keep these in mind, and have fun. Welcome aboard.

Everything Squirrel said, and then I would add this: for anything other than regular infantry, treat PR a bit like an apprenticeship. A guy who wants to be a plumber or a welder for a career doesn't just go start welding or fixing pipes, he works with another guy experienced in the field for several months or even a couple years. Do the same thing in PR: for an example if you want to learn how to man an APC, join the APC squad and drive them around for a few maps to get the hang of it. Then ask if you can gun the APC instead and learn how to do that. Ask your squad leader for tips about the APC, get some experience driving and firing it, and play a mix of APC and regular infantry for a week or so. If you just jump into a vehicle and lose it continuously, your teammates will be very hard on you, and rightly so in my opinion.

And remember perhaps the most important of the PR Golden Rules: being new is great, being new is fun, most players will happily answer questions you have, provided you are not constantly asking them how this works and how that works. However, being new is not an excuse for wasting things or losing your team the round. You can't jump three Abrams in half an hour and use being new as an excuse. Don't take unfair complaints some players might throw at you, but know your own skill level first. If you have some guys who are being genuinely abusive and over-the-top (i.e. screaming at you on microphone for losing a tank), report it to an admin or leave the squad. But if some guy says "It would be nice if we'd had some fucking tank support that last round" when you lost the tank three times by being stupid, that's a valid complaint and something you will have to learn from.

I've been playing Forgotten Hope for nearly a decade and PR off-and-on for several years. I haven't bought a new video game since Battlefield 2, which shows how much I enjoy those two mods. PR definitely has the steeper learning curve but FH is tough to learn as well and my advice to new players here is the same as it is for new players there: don't try to be a hero until you know what you're doing, and even then, heroes usually die. Make sure it isn't for nothing. Play a few games and you'll know who the experienced chaps are, and 9 out of 10 of them will be happy to help you.

Here are some more tips that don't fit anywhere else:
  • Don't take a sniper or marksman kit unless your SL has said you can have it: in fairness, both of these kits are very useful in certain circumstances, but typically there are at least 7 more useful kits you could be bringing your 8-man squad. You've got the sniper kit, whoopdy-fuck. Do you have C4 to destroy an enemy FOB? Do you have a SRAW to take out that enemy tank? Do you have a medic pack and some epi pens to revive dead teammates? Do you have a grappling hook to get over the wall as then enemy has cornered you in an alley? You get the point. Be sure to understand that no matter how great your team's sniper is, there will be a significant portion of your team who will consider him nothing more than a Call of Duty noob who just wants 50 zomg headshots!!!!!!1111!!, not to help his team. And this is not an unreasonable assumption.
  • Don't expect blowjobs: if you destroy an enemy vehicle, FOB, rally point or emplacement, report it to your team in team chat. But don't get butthurt if no one cares. PR players are notoriously schizophrenic in the way they treat the destruction of enemy assets. I've seen guys type "took out that enemy FOB in E6" in chat, and have five people say "great job!". I've seen guys take out enemy CAS chopper and no one congratulate them at all. So don't walk around hoping for cheers, just know that you've helped your team, and if you want to do a little bragging at the end of the round, there's nothing wrong with that. I'll give you an example from yesterday: playing Muttrah City on HOG, and the MT-LB was at the construction site, raping infantry trying to cross an intersection. For ten minutes, the chat was full of people crying about the enemy vehicle giving the USMC a thorough ***-fucking whenever they tried to cross the street. I managed to sneak into the construction site and past three enemy infantrymen, climb up onto a construction building, and blast the MT-LB in the *** with the SMAW. One shot took him out, and a second near him vaporized some enemy infantry close by. I reported this in chat: "MT-LB down - SMAW". As in, I just killed the thing half the team's been screaming about for ten minutes. The response was one guy saying congrats, one guy saying the MT-LB isn't much of a threat anyway, and one guy saying "Shut the fuck up and find the Scoprion and kill that too". Serves me right for being a show off, but it illustrates the point: there's always more shit to kill. Don't play to be loved by everyone, play to make your team win.
  • This is longer than I intended so last tip for now: take note of what kits your squad mates have, and fill in the holes. If they dont have a breacher, spawn as that. If they don't have a grenadier, spawn as that. But more importantly, don't take the kit someone else has been using all round: it's not "your turn" to have the LAT, he's the LAT guy this round so don't take the kit from his body if he's dead. If you really want it, just ask, and you might get handed a nice present. Just don't be mad if you aren't.
And remember most of all that it's not real blood. Things can get a little heated and you will run into a few people who play PR as if it was a real war and that you actually let seven people die in real life if you fuck up. Don't take downright abuse but don't **** around either: a lot of people take PR seriously and that is one of the main things that make it beautiful. I don't like seeing new players get teamkilled for fucking up, but I don't like seeing new players fuck up and say "Oh well whatever" either. Use your head, stay cool, join a squad and always be willing to lend a hand, shovel, bullet, bandaid or rocket to someone who needs one. And have fun.

I really have nothing to add to what the others said. Play low, be humble, ask what you can do for your squad and not what your squad can do for you, don't grab anything without permission or knowledge on how to use it and, most importantly, be mature.
VTRaptor: but i only stopped for less than 10 secs and that fucking awesome dude put 2 of them

]CIA[ SwampFox: well my definition of glitching is using an enemy kit to kill the enemy

Just_Dave: i have a list about PR players, and they r categorized by their skill

Para: You sir are an arse and not what the game or our community needs.

AlonTavor: Is that a German trying to make me concentrate?

Heavy Death: join PRTA instead - Teamwork is a must there.

As you already have "Ghost" in your name, I'd suggest making a new BF2 profile for PR but why not add in a few more words to make your 8/10 skill level a bit clearer shuch as - Snake, Viper, Spec, Frosty or a combination of all of these like FrostyGhostSpecViper2?
