Silent Eagle and assets
Hello,
Silent Eagle's asset layout is very unbalanced at the beginning of the rounds.
Standard layout:
GER starts with IFV Pumas and Tanks
RUS starts with BTR 80A's and couple of useless MT-LB's
What this means is that RUS have 0 assets capable of countering Pumas and Tanks. This goes on for 11 minutes when RUS armour spawns. That's more than enough for GER to gain the upper hand and essentially decide the match.
Alternative layout:
GER gets 2 CAS choppers as soon as they cap the Airfield (2-3 min into the game) + TANKS and Puma's
RUS gets 2 TANK's and 1 TOW MT-LB (spawns in Missile silo) but no AAV to counter the CAS.
What happens is that RUS armour is just a ticket waster, because GER CAS has no counter what so ever. And again, GER can gain the upper hand very fast and decide the match.
This 2 asset layouts make no sense and many times ruin a great map.

Pretty much, I remember one time we got pushed back to Russian Airfield because their CAS had free reign for ages, in combination with parachute drops halfway up the map, we were out manoeuvred and out gunned.
Somehow we managed to only lose by 16 tickets in the end though. O_O

IIRC on silent alt they get BTRs at the start, which is pretty much an AAV without missiles, unless they got removed.
And the std layout is fine, RUS tanks are a lot better than GER leopards if driven by the right people
also BMP3s/2Ms are essentially light tanks/APC/AAV hybrids - beating out pumas probably 9 out of 10 times
if russia is having problems against GER tanks at the start, build TOWs, problem solved - leopards/pumas are HUGE, they stick out on thermals even without zoom
some maps are supposed to be asymmetrical - adapt or die

BTR's are not much use against CAS when a lase is on it's *** and it can simply glide into missile range and fly away.
Germans parachuting into the city allows SL's to do this early in game and halts the Russian advance through INF delaying the Russians, (quickly followed by) CAS and eventually tanks as Armour moves up.
Would just like to see a formidable counter against early game CAS, aka a True AAV spawn at start at Missile Silo.

Every single round of Silent Eagle I've played as RUS people have complained about this issue, but on the forums nobody says anything. These forums really don't represent the community. Devs, please check the map stats and rethink the asset layouts.

I don't think it's unbalanced. The Russians have good assets availiable at the start. Plus, the Germans have to cap Airfield in order to get their Trans. and such.

Name me 1 good asset the Russians get at the beginning and I'll name you 3 German ones that are superior.
Since 1.0 I only saw the Russians win once.

99% of the time one of the team rushes and the other team get's no chance to strike back.
99% of the time the game is won by overcapping the enemy's flag by either side and not by tickets lost on the battlefield while the flags are balanced.
Most of the time it's Germany that wins the round. Russia is too unorganized because of the two seperate spawnpoints which cause chaos for some reason.
This makes maps like Silent Eagle, Khami, Saaremaa, Bijar, etc.. so boring and frustrating sometimes. Once the flag is taken, it's unpossible to take it back.
I'd like to point out that there are many asset-whores out there by whoms fault the team loses. And of course server-admins being a **** and being asset-whore themself

I warn you against using specific numbers, as data that the PR team gathers is reliable and completely contravening what you are saying; you are either being hybperbolic, basing your opinion on one or two rounds, or you are unlucky.
The issue I see here is that the asymmetry of the first deployment is being found to be frustrating to Russian players. Overall the map is balanced, the avaliable data supports this.
Therefore, the GPO is actually fine, this is a player issue. Many players use the same tactics no matter what the asset layout, which doesn't work here. You have APCs, they have Tanks. Hold back and support a defensive infantry line. This is hard to organise in public I know, and perhaps should be on a 32 layer instead. But Don't just sit there and bleat that it is unbalanced, because it isn't

From my experience, if the German team plays their para spawns and early asset advantage correctly(coupled with their superior airforce) the Russians are screwed. Ofc it doesn't work like that on a public server.

Yup, and come 2 leo and some pumas to screw everything up , since the Russian HAT is rubbish you have to be in the face of a tank and the tow can be killed by any leet skills sniper or a normal G36 so the Russians can just seat and die happy because the map is "balanced".

Also, why is there 4 total flags on a map this big? So far when I've played the main village hasn't been in play and besides the mains there were 2 flags. Both right underneath the German para spawn. Maybe I just got the stink of the piss when it came to playing the map, but this is definitely one of the worst maps in v1.0+. It was one of the few I enjoyed back in the v0.98.

How can it be the worse map of 1.0 when it wasn't released with 1.0? it's been the same since it got released (minus the improvements to the airfield) so it was just as unbalanced back in 0.98.

@Fizzco, The layouts changed. Before 1.0 there was always village flag, where infantry could play their role, and isolate themselves from assets steamrole.
IMHO this map was MUCH better when it always had central village in an layer. Since it was changed I played this map maybe 10 times, 9 of them had eastern layout with some hill and forest where 80% of the most interesting map parts is totally forgotten.
And despite initial German supremacy on this map I find it won by Russians much often.

Uhm noo? Pre-1.0 SE had the flag layouts on the far right (with wood cutter cabinwhatevername--clearing--the hill to the NE--missile silo) and the one on the left (The little antenna compound--power plant--underground bunker) next to the center village layout.Wadziu wrote:@Fizzco, The layouts changed. I am not saying central village was the only flag, I am saying it was always there on every layer, ofc there were some other flags to the east/west/north/south whichever you described.
