I just came back to PR after a brief stint at COD (which basically reminded me why i still should play PR) and the very first thing that caught my attention was voodoo medics. Everyone knows that the shaman like medics that PR has kept from BF2 is a necessary evil, its the biggest example in PR of a compromise between realism and gameplay. On one hand the way they instantly revive people is ridiculous and totally unrealistic but then having medics on the team strongly encourages teamwork and people to be part of a squad. Just to clear things up I personally think that having medics in PR is a justifiable compromise between realism and gameplay.
What i dont think is a justifiable compromise is the power they have. Having always been a sniper fan the first weapon i picked up when coming back to PR was the good old mosin nagant. To cut a long story short I ended up taking shots at an American squad who was spread out on a hill in Karbala. I dropped there AR straight away with one shot and then the rest of them scattered. soon after that the squads medic ran to the wounded AR and healed him, as soon as he was up again i shot him down again. "Done and dusted" i thought but then the medic revived him again! so i shot him once again, after that i moved away but a kill never came up on my scoreboard.
The whole engagement really bugged me, the way the AR guy just got shot down and then revived to life again over and over resembled something out of a 1920s slapstick comedy, except it wasn't funny it was just very frustrating. I really think you should only be able to heal someone back from the severely wounded once not multiple times. The entire medical system is always going to be unrealistic, that's simply a limitation of the engine but you still shouldn't be able to bring someone up more then once. Personally I think the medics ability to heal someone over and over is one of the biggest shortcomings in PR in terms of realism, what does everyone else think?

If someone is shot within 2 minutes of being revived, they will instantly go fully dead, just as you are suggesting. There is a bug where people can be revived indefinitely, but it seems to be extremely rare now. You likely just got unlucky and found someone that was bugged. Next time try shooting the medic or get some teammates to maneuver around and kill them while they're busy reviving or something.

It was a bug you experienced. Upon getting revived, you must stay alive for a minimum of 2 minutes before be "Critically Wounded" again. Else, you would be "Dead". Though on some occasions, your character is revived with full health and able to be critically wounded an infinite amount of times when shot down.

Some dude on Fallujah the other day on HOG server. (LIke maybe 5 days ago)
He had that bug. It was so irritating, even though he got 59 kills from the same spot.
And originally I thought you were saying "medics dont' revive".
I would somewhat agree with you on that. Since some medics just walk right past you... while you are saying : "MEDIC!"

Thank goodness it was just a bug, though 2 minutes seems rather short personally I think it should be more like 5 minutes. 2 minutes means someone could get shot down, healed, then shot down and healed again in the space of a firefight which is something you shouldn't be able to do.bandwevil wrote:If someone is shot within 2 minutes of being revived, they will instantly go fully dead, just as you are suggesting. Two min limit should be increased to something like 20 mins with effects like slower running speed and lower accuracy. The player could heal himself completely at main base or FOB.

20 minutes!? You're crazy, most rounds last between an hour and a half to two hours (I might be wrong, and I'm sure the devs can prove that easily). I think 2 minutes is enough to establish that you've won the firefight that you had been killed in, maybe 5 minutes would be alright but 20 is absurd.Tarranauha200 wrote:Two min limit should be increased to something like 20 mins with effects like slower running speed and lower accuracy. Yeh, 5 minutes would be fine, anything beyond that just doesn't fit into the pace of the game.Murphy wrote:20 minutes!?
