Whats up with the 2 full 100p servers? You guys expanding or what?

To be extremely honest, no we are not. It's not really our intention to have 2 full servers. The problem stems from the fact that we have a few servers as redundancy to cover ddos attacks, server crashes and all that. Sometimes, although rarely, people join our second server if they don't see the other one in the list. Tonight was an example of that. Like I said, we don't want to expand, one server is enough of a headache, besides our bandwidth won't support two fulltime servers.

So, honest mistake

Okay, so what's the matter? I got banned tonight for expressing my personal opinion (that Muttrah is a serverkiller). An admin replied that "I don't have the right to express an opinion if it's a shit one". Yes, I called him a fucking americunt afterwards and I firmly believe that it is much less of an insult than any kind of censorship is.

And oh by the way, you come on our TS and make a real life threat? You're not too smart are you? Your temp ban has been extended to full ban on both our servers and TS. By all means come by and see me. Look forward to it.

Ah, yes indeed I have you confused with another one. Sorry about that. Actually, we don't allow incessant whining. Especially on all chat. The map was voted on and won. If you don't like the map, you could just move on. Not whine about it on all chat over and over disturbing others. You want to trash, and ***** about a map, do it here in the PR forums. Not on our server. That is what you were originally told to stop for. But you didn't like being told to stop. So you came back with a not so smart name calling. And yes, we can, do, and will not allow useless all chat spamming. Don't care if its your opinion or a holy mantra. Call it whatever you want. Read our rules.

Edit: And the above log only shows the one time you were whining about the map, after the vote was finished and the map determined. There was at least one other, maybe two entries, before that. All on all chat.

Since negative feedback might often be about your admins behaviour resulting in bans for others, you can't blame people for coming here to express their thoughts. And telling someone to 'shut up', because his opinion is 'stupid' is the way to provoke him, just to give you guys a reason to ban him.

However, @ HOG, I would suggest (I have also experienced similar stuff on your server) to develop some kind of standard procedure when it comes to kicking and warning people. !k name asshat is not really an appropriate way of showing a player they misbehaved. We used to have shortcuts for different kick reasons and many other servers do - I don't know if you have that aswell. !k name afk would for example give a message "You were afk. Thank you for joining HOG."

So instead of

maybe use !w panal allchat or if you have the time !w panal no discussion on mapvote

[18:58 SQUAD 4 ] =HOG= York_54: !b panal asshat
maybe use !b panal language

This way you increase the legitimacy and confirmability of actions taken against rule offenders. This way, panalfiks reaction would propably been a different one:

Of course, admins want to play aswell, but their primary concern should be towards the server and then themselves.

You are absolutely right, Keios. The warn reason should not have been 'shut up', I wholeheartedly agree with you there. We have set up rules within our clan to make warn/kick reasons more elaborate so people know exactly what they are doing wrong and nobody gets provoked unnecessarily. I'm assuming this was a heat-of-the-moment situation, but that's no excuse. We will follow up on this.

Nothing to add myself but I would wholeheartedly recommend you to setup macros for the ! commands. PRTA and other servers with a very committed staff had that and it somehow gave you a feel of organization and unity when dealing with disruptive people, while also keeping it objective and less prone to bias. Furthermore the issue with "oh that admin is a major *******" nearly vanished and HOG definitely suffers from, uhm, people with temper

Just underlining an important point IMO, keep up the good work Brez. I don't think I have said this yet but you were and still are a major asset that made HOG improve a lot since the 24/7 days, wish more people were committed and honest like you. Peace.

Since i've got kicked and then banned from your servers by York, because one guy in my squad was accused of baserape, i wouldn't say it was in the heat of the moment. I understand that administration ingame can be hard, since people expect a fair judgement by someone who can not have his eyes and ears everywhere and who still wants to enjoy the game - but that is, why you need admins who are in control of their temper and not someone who enjoys the admin power too much. The decay of former popular servers always started with few guys who abused their admin privileges, believing that it wouldn't affect the popularity.
