PR:WW2's Graphic Design Contest

Post by Arc_Shielder »

Image
PR:WW2 is inviting everyone to unleash their creativity and leave their mark in the world of PR. We are looking for designs that incorporate the intense and unique setting of WW2. Your work will be displayed as the standard background for everything related to PR:WW2 (be it for publicity, commemorative or [possible] graphical user interface purposes).

The deadline is set to 5th of April, 0:00 (midnight) PRT.

The list of requirements are the following:

- Image should be 1280x720 or higher.
- Only two entries per contester are allowed.
- The image should contain elements that are clearly associated with WW2.
- Political symbols are forbidden.
- Use of copyrighted material is forbidden.
- Works that depict subtle changes on a photo will most likely be rejected. Draw it yourself or apply similar effects. Take PR's launcher background image as an example.
For more info please read this: [click here]
- Friendly suggestion: the US front in Europe is the most adequate for a setting as it accurately represents most of our content.
- If requirements/quality standards are not met by deadline time, the team reserves the right to not make a decision on any of the submitted works.

Submit your work by sending a PM to [R-COM]Arc_Shielder. Once the deadline is met the team will gather and vote for the best work. The winner will be announced on the 6th of April.

Good luck on the battlefield!

Midnight's impressive artistic skills earned him the opportunity to have his work featured in promotional PR:WW2 content. We would also like to thank everyone else that participated in this contest. It was interesting to see people's creativity about WW2 and we hope you had fun while doing it.

Cheers!

Is there have to be some kind of text in the middle of picture or not?

Use of text is not advisable. If you draw it as a street sign or something, sure.

Firstly, we don't want to offend anyone, second we don't want it to seem centered around one particular battle or side. Is swastika we don't want the idea were only doing the Germans and there battles. We want a more general ww2 picture :D

but I see where you're coming from :)

This has nothing to do with PR. The display of Swastikas (even in things like this) is prohibited in Germany, as far as I know.

Plus, there could be legal issues in some country. See Strafgesetzbuch section 86a - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for the legal situation in germany regarding those symbols. I think even Wolfenstein 3d is still indexed.

edit: dune was faster than me. So what he said. :)

Of course I'm aware of the reasons and laws why there can't be realistic symbols in games.

Will there be hammer and sickle symbol for soviet forces?
That symbol is banned in Poland, and most of eastern European countries consider soviets much worse than germans.
After all, if we look at the facts and statistics Stalin was the worst dictator in history in all levels...

Let's keep this thread clean, mmkay? Start a new thread if you want to talk about political symbols.

I think you to need it to make it look more like a drawing. And it's bit too plain. Right now it looks like a picture with some light effects on it.

I also like that picture. Much better than blur effects that are being completely exaggerated these days making me feel that I'm going blind :D

No, its not that, we just don't want someone to take a photo and change it slightly as their work, we want originality and creativity, while being enjoyable to look at. If that does mean filters, then great, or if it means a hand drawn picture, also great.

This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning

Goodluck with the contest. Altough it wasn't a serious entry or anything near it, but more a test what you guys look for. That why I was 'asking' in the first place.

And lol to arthuro12 kiddo.
