Re: ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers (North America)
CIA is a really good server; but, there is one flaw that has bugged me and many other people; Clan teamstacking.
I'd prefer not to say names but there are admins whom may switch teams just to have the Blufor advantage for the fresh round, I can understand if they switch for admin purposes(e.g- fixing a mumble spam issue) but generally it happens. Also, regular people of clans switch teams (which isn't really against the rules) to eventually be synchronized on one team... If there is any way that teams can be scrambled or teams to not be stacked so a result of a 6 game series of one team consistently shutting out the other team doesn't happen that would be great, not saying it happens 24/7.
A compromise for the time would be to try and have one clan on one team, one on the other to kinda balance it out because I was playing last week, and this happens almost every other day with multiple clans(who work alot better together) where AIC and OD-S were just demolishing together, with the Blufor INS advantage.
Another thing is the unassigned players, whenever I play on ]CIA[ theres an average of 5-10 players on each team that have been in (so obv. they have loaded in..??) the round for quite some time with rifleman kits. This sometime might ruin the integrity of a good teamwork influenced match as sometimes those rifleman can jeopardize a squad's "sneaky" mission of breaching a compound resulting in a dead squad due to a guy not using communications.
Lastly, kits. There are people that will come into my squad when I'm SL'ing and grab a LAT or specialist and then run off unassigned or in their friends squad where they have other squad's LATs or medics, etc. I wish this was looked upon more because recently a dude took my squads medic and had it selected as he was unassigned which glitched up the squad's access to a second medic and the LAT which was also stolen. IMO if ]CIA[ could lay a kit rule down stating you must have SL permission to grab kits and leave squads whether it's a spawn menu generated kit (e.g-medic, breacher, lat, AR, grenadier) or a crate kit (e.g-sniper, HAT, spotter). If that was brought attention that would be great as it has been a ongoing problem for a while.
I'm not 100% sure if all of these incidents/types of issues have been looked upon or already dealt with establishing rules I may not of understood fully but I'd like to see them be enforced more if that is possible.

Well if you can magically fix server crashes then you have my full attention. Otherwise I will leave the crashes to the devs.

It could be a stupid/verry obvious suggestion but; have you considered changing the server host?SyntheticCoyote wrote:Well if you can magically fix server crashes then you have my full attention. Otherwise I will leave the crashes to the devs.

Re: ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers (North America)
We had to change hosts not too long ago due to a separate issue and it had no change on the frequency of the crashes. Every server seems to have its good and its bad days and every server crashes. We've gone more than a day without crashing and then we'll crash 5 or 6 times in a day right after.Careless wrote:It could be a stupid/verry obvious suggestion but; have you considered changing the server host?

Re: ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers (North America)
Alt maps are always fun to play and not doing votes and letting the admin decide is always interesting thank fully the server filled up, lots of admins are doing it which is nice to see.. I wanna see Ramiel ALT get played with the USMC vs Insurgents/MilitiaDelfer wrote:One of your admins was doing a good job with the maps last night. Skipped the INS/AAS vote which I think is stupid, personally. Then he chose to play the ALT layers instead of STD. Clearly demonstrated an ability to change things up a bit and make good decisions. I'm pretty sure it was PuppyDough.
But there were balance problems, and I heard that admins can switch up the teams using !scramble. Is that a thing? I've never heard of that before, it sounds really useful.

We've been trying to get our admins to use more alternate and even some infantry layers recently.Delfer wrote:One of your admins was doing a good job with the maps last night. As far as scrambling teams goes, we do have a command that allows us to do that now. Its not in widespread use as its not "official" and is still being developed. Hopefully it will see more use later on.

Admins need to crack down on blufor camping of insurgent spawns.
Everytime the server switches to INS, two things always happen.
1. Everyone tries to join blufor
2. Blufor likes to shoot into Insurgent mains, and camp hideouts.

What is an admin supposed to do, use a command to give you enough intelligence to spawn in a different location?obpmgmua wrote:and camp hideouts.

Re: ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers (North America)
If we notice a player that is blufor whoring we'll probably switch them back and keep them there. If a player is firing in to main we'll warn them to stop and if they continue they'll be removed from the server.obpmgmua wrote:Admins need to crack down on blufor camping of insurgent spawns.

Hideouts on the other hand are different. I don't see camping hideouts as an issue though. Its not a main base and if they are camping it just spawn elsewhere. Your hideout was found and its being engaged, nothing wrong with that.
Please remember that our admins are there to play as well and they don't see everything that goes on. If you have a problem that needs admin attention you can use the report command. For example if I was shooting into main you would do "!r Fatal shooting into ins main" or something similar.

Re: ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers (North America)
Why does everyone blame DDOS when server crashing occurs?
It also really depends on many things...
The ISP the server is using,
The Type/Strength of server.
The Weather has a good effect on server crashing.
(Especially Winter)
But, Honestly. I like CIA, but I find the admins do kick and ban for dumb things.
My buddy was banned for 1 year because he accidently TK'ed a teammate.

Re: ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers (North America)
Everyone goes and screams that it was a DDoS attack whenever the server crashes because they don't know any better. We're often the target of DoS/DDoS attacks so it makes sense to some degree but its not always a DDoS attack. I hate when people go about saying it was a DDoS attack even when it obviously wasn't. The second it slips out of someones mouth its around in a matter of minutes and nobody can shut their mouth about it.matty1053 wrote:Why does everyone blame DDOS when server crashing occurs?

Matty, what is your friend's name? I would love to go through my logs and see what the ban reason was. To my knowledge we haven't ever set a ban for a year...... Bans are usually one of the following:matty1053 wrote:Why does everyone blame DDOS when server crashing occurs?

1-2 Weeks or up to a month depending on the offense.

Echoing what my lead admin said, PLEASE put a research request in on ]CIA[ Gaming and we will look into it.

Re: ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers (North America)
Appreciating the fact you guys are running more alternative layouts.
@Synthetic: Sorry I couldn't help your squad much out on Gaza as cmd the other night.
Once the scrambling function is stabilized I think it will be a lot more fun (this goes back to my old post) because there is a time of the day where there is a blowout on one team.
Thanks for keeping admins up almost 24/7, Atoli, t0et0e, Costan, and Fryers have been helping out during American A.M.

Re: ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers (North America)
We have been trying to keep the admins up 24/7 it is hard to get a location that caters to everyone. It is also hard to find admins that are in every time zone especially when people have lives and other things to do besides play PR, also there is the occasional Mine craft addiction that runs through CIA.....
