Don't forget to tell us how it runs when it arrives!

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
It arrived today..Seems to run the most demanding games at 100-80 fps.Looks good runs smooth as you would expect.Very neat inside, cable management etc and also all matches colour wise which I wasn't really expecting.
Only problem I've had is Rome 2 total war makes it full blown shutdown and restart for no reason with a weird high pitch noise that gets lower when its about to die that seems to be coming from either the motherboard or memory sticks. No over heating or anything like that.
I'd be worried but it only seems to happen with that one game.I'll ring tech support in the morning to see if I should worry but I have a suspicion its just Rome being the piece of shit that it is since others have reported the same problem minus the high pitched noise though so best to check it out..
O as an amusing side note (It made me laugh) my monitor Decided to kinda die the day before it came (FU world)So having difficulty enjoying the awesomeness over the constant flickering
..
Pics soon if I don't have to return it..

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
That is concerning. Returning it is a defnite option here.
run stress testing software for many hours, if you max the GPU and CPU load simultanously and the PC shuts down, then return it.
CPU and GPU extreme Stress Test (FurMark + Prime95 for example)

Aaand it lasted 2 mins and went to a grey screen so I reset it..It didn't shut itself off like it did when gaming and it didn't make any noise.
Anyway why am I testing it? If they really tested it like they claim to wouldn't such a massive fault been obvious?
I mean I broke it right after setting it up lol

So much for the shop's stress testing, huhTrooper909 wrote:Aaand it lasted 2 mins and went to a grey screen so I reset it..It didn't shut itself off like it did when gaming and it didn't make any noise.
Did it fail on the CPU or GPU test?

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
I ran both at once as suggested...The GPU got up to 85c in that 1min though..Is that normal?
I have no credit to ring the tech support line and they have not responded to any Email.
Unless they can help me determine exactly what part/s are broken and send me replacements I'll just get a refund and build it myself. If they can let a lemon like this get past QC I'm not putting faith in them fixing anything.
The "testing" phaze must consist of a guy booting to windows and leaving it on for 2days and maybe jacking off to internet porn here and there because that is literately all you can do with it. lol

That high-pitched noise, was it just noise or a beep?
If it was noise, then;
Once I had the same problem on my old computer, it was coming from the power supply.
Try to locate the sound.
Maybe your power supply failed at some point?
Probably coil-whine or something to do with the voltages.
If it was a beep, then;
Must've come from the motherboard. BIOS beeps?
Tell us the sequence of the beep(s)

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
Honestly, if the PC failed in under 2 minutes, something is right proper fucked. You should contact them and get a RMA (Return merchandise authorization) number, then ship it back. Demand that they pay the shipping costs. Hell, demand a credit on your PC if they think they can fix it. Otherwise do a full return.
You have to tear down the PC and re-install each component one at a time, checking all connections.
You'll need a way to clean off thermal paste, and fresh thermal paste.
And you'll need like 6 to 10 hours of your time, not including the stress testing which doesn't require your immediate attention.
IN short, those shysters took your money to perform physical build and software installation and stress testing, and now you're going to have to do it all anyway. So I'd return it, and go buy your own parts and build. THe amount of time/effort/lost wages/headaches here will be equivalent if you repair your current PC or build your own. Save the 100+ quid they charged you and plow it back into parts upgrades or beer.

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
Can you just send the whole computer back?
I think they have some kind of a policy to return it when something fails. Try not to touch too much, may avoid warrany.
Safest thing to do imo.. :/

Yeah they will collect and repair it free of charge (for a year) but I don't trust them to be able to fix it tbh.Careless wrote:Can you just send the whole computer back?

I mean they shipped this one to me broken out of the box so whats saying they don't take it away "repair"it and I get it back still broken?
I can understand if it was something breaking down a month after purchase or even in transit that couldn't be foreseen on there part but this must have been plain broken right out the shop.
The most dodgy part is I can't seem to post on there forums.

Just say it like this in an e-mail; I'm not satisfied with your products. Quality control is terrible. I want to get my computer fixed free of charge or a total refund. A whole gaming-forum just saw this happening.
Or something in these lines.
They'll happily repair it for you or even put in new hardware.
They'll rather lose some pounds than a customer that'll pass on his story with bad experiences.

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
I've only Emailed the tech support guys so far and I was surprisingly polite since its not there fault.
Judging by how long this took to arrive I can't imagine the wait for them to come pick it up take it back, repair, test and ship it back to me and there still is no garentee it will work.. I've waited 3 weeks ish for this so another 3 weeks waiting isn't sounding appealing..
Not sure what I'll do but my gut is telling me to just get my money back look at how they got the insides so neat and build myself with slightly better parts within 1 week tops..
BTW the GPU brands they use are powercolor for radion and piney? pinoy? for geforce..The cheapest shit going.

PNY is actually most expensive and highest quality NVidia GPU manufacturer. Only manufacturer licensed by NVidia to produce NVidia branded CAD/CAM GPUs. Based in New Jersey, USA, a very good company with excellent warranties.
Powercolor is meh.

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
I stand corrected on PNY.where the radions are powercolor I assumed PNY was rubbish to,especially since I never heard of them.
Is there a general idea of what it could be? like if its just a faulty memory stick or GPU they would just send me a replacement and I don't have to faf about repacking the whole thing.
Its so hard to tell where the noise is coming from tbh.

Sorry didn't see that question till just now...No its not a beep like a motherboard code beep like what you are thinking. Its a very high pitch sustained sound. That high-pitched noise, was it just noise or a beep?

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
Two ways to look at this.
1. Simplest to most complex.
2. Proper systematic breakdown and rebuild.
Simplest steps:
[First start PC, in Search, type in Event Viewer. Open event viewer, look for crashes and error coeds.
then physical checking.
1. Check all power connectors
boot. stress test.
2. Reseat RAM
boot. stress test.
3. Check all SATA connectors
boot. stress test.
4. Reseat GPU. Check GPU power connectors again,.
boot. stress test.
The easiest way to pinpoint the whining noise is to roll up a piece of stiff paper into a tube about 2 or 3 cm in diameter, like an old fashioned ear trumpet. Open PC case, boot. stress test. Use it like a stethoscope to pinpoint the whine.

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
Whine generally comes from two places:
- Powersupply capacitor/coil whine
- GPU whine
I suggest retesting your PC, but only stress test one component at a time (first CPU, then GPU, then RAM)
[Isolation testing]
But yeah, like I suggested in post #13, building it yourself is still the best option IMO.

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
Yeah its the GPU.Furmark killed it within 1min.Only Rome2 makes it make that sound though.
Could it be the PSU not giving it enough juice?
*edit*
The tech support guy recons its the PSU.A 450w one is what I have..He said its not enough and they are sending me a 550w one immediately with no extra charge (damn right as well)..I have to wire it though which I'm not to happy about but at least its something.
Now comes the question of..If the tech support guy knew it was an inadequate PSU within one min of me explaining because its nowhere near enough for the system.
1:Why wasn't this brought up in "testing"?
2:Why did the configuration recommend that PSU when it was it wasn't enough?
I can answer the testing question..Fire the tester because he tested nothing.

Re: Pre built PC for under 700 pounds?
The "tester" is a 18 year old guy with just enough knowledge to get the job and refill the coffee pot. He literally takes a OS image off the company server and uses that to start the PC, the bosses decide what "QC" means, and it usually means, "Does it turn on and turn off and turn on again?" If YES, ship it.
Anyway, a new 450W PSU is worth like 40 Pound, sell it to compensate for your troubles.
Also, in the age of cellphone cams, photograph all the PSU connections before you unplug them, if you're not sure what goes where.

It's just plugging in, just like you do with a monitor and USB's, but internally.
If you're not sure, just send pics here, we'll help you out!
But in general it's easy.

More a matter of looking at how they got the cables so neat and tidy. You can't go wrong with the "wiring" lol.
Way ahead of ya taking photos was the first thing I did. Also, in the age of cellphone cams, photograph all the PSU connections before you unplug them, if you're not sure what goes where.
Naturally they want the old one back lol..Guess having a slightly more expensive PSU is my compensation.Anyway, a new 450W PSU is worth like 40 Pound, sell it to compensate for your troubles.
I know it should be a given but in this world it isn't.I'm just happy they are willing to resolve the issue quickly and without fuss.Even though there configure thingy is bugged/flawed I guess I could have also checked myself to be sure of compatibility.
Soon find out tomorrow at some time if all goes well..
On a side note I also got a new monitor.. A BENQ GL2450 it took some configuring and will take getting used to but I like it.ofc not tested it with any games.
Also pailit for the geforce brand not PNY.
