Hey gents,
Couple of things i've been thinking about for a while regarding the comfac forums and comfacs' presence on forums:
Why are forums under "PR:BF2 Community Factions " named "xxx Faction Archives". Factions currently have no forum for discussion about the faction. Nor a place where all stuff of a faction could be seen with one glimpse. As you know, the desing plans and other introductory stuff are there too. Peeps skip them as it says "Archives" as they think it is old stuff...
ATM factions have WIP threads in both "Community Modding" and "Community Factions" - Mappind/Objects/Coding/Modeling&Animation/Texturing. So it's quite hard to see what is being developed by factions and on the other hand in general by the community. When they are on Community Factions" - Mappind/Objects/Coding/Modeling&Animation/Texturing it does implicate also the state asset is in though, which is nice.
Should comfac assets be either on "Community Modding" or on relevant section under "Community Factions" or in relevant faction's forum?
If they are not on factions forum, should there at least be a thread named like "Development plan & WIP assets" (orinseparate threads) on faction's forum containing links to WIP threads?
Personally, i'd Like to see more Communications between comfacs. Like sharing knowledge and skill. Not to even mention common code, objects and even assets. Or is this a competition about who get's first to PR distribution? I hope not. I see we could better allocate and share resources, if not in any other way, at least by exchanging common assets: "I'll give you something, you give me something". E.g. FDF has some assets used by other factions too.
Please discuss and shoot some ideas and feedback.
My primary goal here is to brush up promotion of all factions as well as make it easier for faction developers to keep up with development of (faction) assets.
Cheers,
Temexter

I liked the old system where you could navigate all the WIP assets of faction and see the latest progress of each assets.

My view of the new system was we were going to pick a faction (which ever had the most progress) and then organize those who can work on it, texturers, modellers ect so that we could push that faction through. So far like Tex said, communication hasn't been the best about sharing resources.
Suggestion, maybe compile a list of people available and get them to work on 1 faction?
Organization is key I think

Re: Some thoughts about Community Factions Forums
I don't think that most of faction modders would be really happy some one saying what to do, especially for other factions. Most of these are powered by national spirit and wish to get one's home country's forces into PR. Moreover this is a hobby and we're not paid as we do this 'cause we love PR and partly our armed forces too
Anyroad, what i'd like to hear from Amok@ndy and red tags, is how we organize these forums so that comfacs are better promoted and WIP threads are neatly visible and also seen (linked) on faction's sub forum (which should not be named "Archive").

Cheers AD, that about covers the resources allocation etc etc stuff.'[R-DEV wrote:AfterDune;1986677']Please have a look here: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f66-pr ... abase.html
Now what i'd really like to hear, is about the community faction forums, whoever is responsible... Amok@ndy? As they do not serve comfacs' needs in current state

Re: Some thoughts about Community Factions Forums
The change was supposed to unite the teams, instead we have failed a bit at communicating and it has not really worked out all too well.
It must be said that we all have lives outside of PR as well, it is hard keeping the momentum going. I still believe we can pull together and finish all the factions together instead of just working on our own country.

Re: Some thoughts about Community Factions Forums
I'm still of the mind that this isn't the best strategy as even if you do get all the community modders to sign up their details, it doesn't state if they are busy with projects or looking for tasks, or most importantly, what type of task they would be enthusiastic about when they have the time. It also doesn't include people from the community who would be willing at giving a shot at some of the easier tasks in order to learn the basics of a trade and then can work up from there'[R-DEV wrote:AfterDune;1986677']Please have a look here: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f66-pr ... abase.html
Instead I still feel that the best thing for the community factions to do to get people from other factions and the community too, as well as from their own faction is to do the same sort of thing I've been doing with The Falklands and make an "Open Tasks" topic listing all the factions/mods open tasks that are up for grabs like so: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f388-p ... tasks.html
This way anyone looking for something to do can browse these open task lists for each faction/mod and see if anything appeals to them personally, be it on a, as temexter puts it a "national spirit" or just interested in the weapon/object itself regardless of what faction(s) its for.
If we also had a dedicated forum for these open task lists as well so they would be easy to find that would help too
To also make it clear I'm not saying the "Skill-set Database" is a bad idea and shouldn't be done, as in some cases it could be useful but having people pick and choose their own tasks that they are personally interested in is IMO, the most effective way to go about this in my experience from from normal PR as well as PR:F, as that enthusiasm is a key element to getting something that someone is working on in their spare time, completed
