new games pc for 350 ???

Post by =-=kittykiller »

these are the specs how well do you suppose this will run PR? 50fps on med settings or better? its ?360 pounds english money

Spec of the pc is:
Amd athlon ii x4 645 3.1ghz quadcore cpu
ASUS M4A78lt-M LE motherboard
4GB crucial 1333mhz DDR3 ram
1GB Saphire HD7770 Ghz edition grahics card (has hdmi, supports upto 4 monitors & 3D ready)
300GB western digital hard drive
DVD reader/rewriter
Xfx 450w powersupply
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit

if i use processor lassoo to dedicate one core to PR, is their any major weakness in this build for ?360

im really not that confident when it comes to hardware, any help appreciated

350 UK Pounds? That includes VAT?
That's a reasonablly fair price for the machine.

It can definitely play PR on medium, not sure about the CPU being able to keep the FPS up in the urban areas though.

The motherboard has overclocking abilities (double edged sword, as you don't know if the motherboard and CPU has been OC'ed for years already resulting in wear and tear). But you can manually OC the CPU if you buy a decent CPU cooler, can usually get up to 3.7Ghz on OC, which would probably safely get you to mostly High graphics in PR.

With that particular CPU, Might be cheaper to find a used HP P7-1000 series or Dell Inspiron 560 or 570 series, and throw in a new PSU and GPU.

Single thread performance is not that that good... even Intel E8500 is a better buy at that price point... which is also not recommended for PR these days.
PassMark CPU Benchmarks - Single Thread Performance

Food for thought All three are good benchmarks for PR's CPU intensive activities.

This is the hard bit to price. Together let's say it's worth about 140 Pounds.

4GB crucial 1333mhz DDR3 ram

Code: Select all

30 Pounds plus shipping
1GB Saphire HD7770 Ghz edition grahics card (has hdmi, supports upto 4 monitors & 3D ready)

Code: Select all

75 to 85 Pounds
300GB western digital hard drive

Code: Select all

25 Pounds
DVD reader/rewriter

Code: Select all

12 Pounds
Xfx 450w powersupply

Code: Select all

35 Pounds
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit

Code: Select all

50 Pounds
And you have to add another 15 Pounds for the case itself.

SO I think you've done right at 320.

(Keep in mind this seller probably still making a bit of profit but this PC is old stock he has to move for cash flow)
