Insurgent mortar calculation

Played on a mortar squad on I believe the insurgent side 2 weeks ago and was wondering how do you calculate the mortar for the insurgent side? (or which ever doesn't have a calculator) I notice that they use time by going as low of an angle first, and timing the w key up.

Now what I'd like to know is, how do you calculate this time? Like what equation do they use for this and what values do you have if there is one? (I. E. Gravity value for pr) I ask because I can't find the answer anywhere, I ask in game and people just tell me it's an equation but hard to explain apparently, and I can't find the answer online either.

Any help or explanation of this would be awesome.

If R-Con actually played the game he would tell you that the INS mortars are currently bugged. The screen where you set the degrees and calculate the distance is blacked out. It has been since the last patch few months ago.

Lol... I swore I saw Psryus in game a few weeks ago...

And btw, thank you Psryus for the link.

And most INS maps can't have mortars.... since it's less then 2km

when abouts can we expect to see a fix to roll out for the insurgent mortars?

Well, if you want the formula I can do you one better - here's a table with various distances and their angles.

However, if caclulator is not visible, how do you set the angle?

Edit: Oh. I think I get it now. What he meant by timing.
You time the interval between how many seconds it takes to bring mortar angle from 0m (1600 degree) to 1500m (800 degree) and based on that you decide now many seconds you move the angle from begining and adjust for the target distance right?

Was this blackout intentional or was it a bug?

Other thing is Commander gets ability to drop mortar (area attack) if requested by SL with SL kit every 15 minutes even in 1 and 2km maps I thought?

It is/was a very, very annoying bug :(

I like(d) playing as insurgents before, but with the 1-shot bug and mortar bug, I honestly find them too much of a PITA to bother with

Partly right. No area attack for 1km maps, except for Gaza Beach. But for 2km and 4km maps every 30 minutes. Depends on which map though, for Ia Drang it's every 40 minutes.
