Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
Brand new to PR. I have BF2 and PR installed. I can run PR and get to the create account window, but once I enter my information and hit create I get a long pause followed by: 1004. Error connecting to server. (10060).
I've tried making an account on BF2 as well, but I get a server error also. I'm at a loss. No other forum post I've been able to find helps with my problem.
I'm using Desura, if that helps.

Re: Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
Hiya Pat,
welcome to the PR forums,
Firewall/Antivirus/Router/Router's built in firewall
One or more of those are blocking BF2's connection to the GameSpy account authentication servers.
While we're trying to fix this, please use vanilla BF2 to try to create your online multiplayer BF2 account.
Please give me your system specs to help us out:
Start the PRLauncher, Click Support-CLick Copy to Clipboard,
Paste everything in a response here.
So,
which antivirus do you have?
which firewall do you have?
which router do you have?

Re: Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
Thanks for the quick reply!
I have no support tab in the PR launcher. It's the BF2 initial setup. My only options are create account or retrieve existing account.
My specs are.
processor: Intel core i5-2320 CPU 3.00Ghz
HDD: ST2000DM001-1CH164 ATA Device (1863 GB) and
ST31000524AS ATA Device (931 GB)
RAM: 6 gigs of ram.
OS: Windows 7
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 6870
My firewall isn't blocking access to the game, but I haven't port forwarded. I guess that could potentially be the problem?
As for Antivirus, I have AVG.
Router: Netgear r7000

Re: Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
OK, we have multiple issues.
1. You are installing from the Desura app, and it installed PR version 1.0.29.0 .
2. You have a bad vanilla BF2 file. Ancient is the lead programmer for PR, he hosts this file on his server because this verification error occurs so often, please download and replace your current dgbhelp.dll file. Project Reality: BF2 Verification Errors
3. AVG is almost definitely blocking your BF2.
please follow the quick tutorial in this thread to give exceptions to BF2 and PR's .exe files:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ost1955849
4. You should manually update PR until you update to 1.0.36.0, using this guide
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ution.html After you get to 1.0.36.0 you can then automatically update until you get to 1.1.4.0
5. After you try the AVG exceptions, if that doesn't fix it, let', port forward the GameSpy ports listed below:

Make sure these ports are open on your router
(my router 'D-link Gamers lounge' auto opens these ports for BF2)
TCP
80,Battle recorder port
4711,Remote console
29900,Client+Server
29901,Client Not in use yet
29920,Server Standard Port
28910, Client
44301= PnkBstrA
45301= PnkBstrB
UDP
1500 - 4999,General use
16567,Game port
27900,Stats port
29900,Gamespy port
29910,gamespy port
27901,Stats port
44301 = PnkBstrA,
45301 = PnkBstrB,
55123,VOIP ports
55124,VOIP ports
55215,VOIP ports
Not sure what ports (TCP/UDP)
port for PnkBstrA = 44301
port for PnkBstrB = 45301
should be, so opened for both
I'll try to think of something else, but anyone reading this thread feel free to jump in with new ideas.
Good luck

Re: Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
Thank you so much! I was able to replace dgbhelp.dll and launched from Desura again. It's now updating successfully. As for AVG, I have the free version, and as far as I know, the firewall section is reserved for customers.
EDIT: Ok. the problem still persists. I cannot create an online account. Same error and everything. I haven't tried port forwarding yet, however, but I'm almost sure it's not AVG. The firewall option isn't available.

Re: Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
Please also check the built in Windows Firewall, if that is running in the background, and give exceptions to the
files:
Add the following programs:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\PRBF2.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\mods\pr\bin\PRLauncher.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\mods\pr\bin\PRUpdater.exe"
Also, I'll have to ask Ancient a question, not sure what the -> means in your system specs:

Re: Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
Did you at some point use symbolic links to move the BF2 installation folder?
I talked to Ancientman, he added the -> as a pointer from Source and destination for a symbolic link, so... you have a self referring symbolic link for the directory.
I'm actually not a 100% sure how to fix this, but you MUST delete this symbolic link, either through command line or through a 3rd party UI, I suggest using this program:
Junction Link Magic
1. Copy your entire C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\ directory to somewhere like C:\temp so we don't have to reinstall BF2 and PR.
Install Junction Link Magic, run it
Click the "Scan Now!" button, the program will now search your entire PC for all symbolic links, this takes quite some time on a 1TB hdd.
Once the program scans the (Source) C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\ -> (Destination) [C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection symbolic link, you can then select that link in the list of links, and delete that link with the "DELETE" button on the right.
Next step, reboot.
Then copy the c:\temp back to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\ and try to run vanilla BF2.
I have no idea how you did this, did you use a program like LapLink PCMover to move programs to this new PC?

gamespy sockets
We have to go look at AVG again.CreateAccount: gpcm.gamespy.com TCP 29900

Re: Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
I am now scanning with junction link and will delete that sym link. Also, What IP am I supposed to use for all of those ports? I used my router's local IP, but I'm new to port-forwarding so I'm probably wrong. Thats the only other reason I see as to why this isn't working.

Re: Error connecting to server (10060) when making a profile
for your particular router, it's a two step process:
1. reserve a static IP route between your router and your PC.
2. forward ports from your router to your PC's static IP.
part 1:
How do I set up a static route on my Nighthawk R7000 router?
DHCP range
192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254
So usually you'll set your PC's static IP to 192.168.1.2 , but can choose any number you like,
192.168.1.6 if Lebron James is your favorite NBA player, whatever you'll remember.
part 2:
How do I configure port forwarding on routers with the NETGEAR genie interface?
the important bit is to forward the ports to your new static IP for your PC ( 192.168.1.2 or whatever you chose) :
1. reserve a static IP route between your router and your PC.

Internal IP address. Type the IP address in the Internal IP address field, or select the radio button for an attached device listed in the table.
