Using Battlefield 2142 Objects in PR

Quick question for you guys

Battlefield 2142 has a some real nice urban buildings like apartments and sky scrapers. Would be really nice to use these objects in a PR level but would these be illegal as it comes from a different game. I mean, its made by the same people on the same engine and is still a battlefield franchise. Would it really be that forbidden?

Its not legal. One team who ported a bunch of BF2 statics and the map Karkand to BF2142 got a serious spanking from EA/DICE, this was before they themselves added an official version with updated statics etc to 2142.

Have the Dev team ever asked EA and Dice for permission to use these assets?

I'm no expert, but I think that in general its best not to poke Satan when he is mostly ignoring you.

So I assume that's a no? I thought that the PR team would push EA and DICE to use their wide variety of assets

They are largely ignoring the PR mod, it could be a good time to port some stuff in under the radar but it could be a mess... Then again, EA\DICE had given PR Mod the spotlight a billion times and it would be pretty hypocritical of them to just pull out the TOS card, PR has tons of SF content after all.. The guy who ported Karkand requested permission from EA\DICE and it was implemented in 2010, maybe PR could do it...

If this went through, PR would go to the next level. We could make some real city maps with huge sky scrappers and apartments. Level design would be reinvented!
