German MMG and MEC's LMG questions
Hello, everyone!
I'm just curious and I was unsure about where I should ask these questions, but here they go:
1) Why doesn't the German Machinegunner kit have medium range optics (like ELCAN or ACOG), only the holographic sight?
2) Why doesn't MEC have a light machine gun? It has MG3 for both Automatic Rifleman and Machinegunner kits! It used to have the HK23E some versions ago.
Thanks for the attention and, please, keep in mind I'm just curious, I'm not making any requests!

Well, the HK23 or 21 or what it was was aaaages ago, back in 0.6 or 0.5 I think.
It's a relatively rare weapon, so it was removed.

additionally the model avaliable is quite low quality[R-DEV]Spec wrote:Well, the HK23 or 21 or what it was was aaaages ago, back in 0.6 or 0.5 I think.

afaik the Ger MMG gets a box ammo like the MEC MMG which is a significant advantage for persistant fire, which is why it lacks optics I assume ingame.
I'm not knowledgable regarding the German military IRL so I expect someone will pop by with a fuller explanation

Oh, I see, thanks for answering though.
I also got curious because I read about an improvement package the German Army announced for the MG3, so I saw pictures of optics mounted on its rails.
Are there any plans for a MEC LMG, other than the HK23E then?
P.S.: the name of the package is MG3 KWS.

Bundeswehr does not use scopes on their MG3. You rarley see a holosight and thats it. That's most likley the reason there is no scope on it in PR.

I'm suprised the MG3 stil has the eotech on it, Iron sight is probably more common and also easier to use.

Only German SF or non German countrys use optics on MG 3.
In my 5 years of sevice I never saw or used a MG 3 with any kind of scope.
I heard of some fieldmods in Afghanistan (like a MG 3 ammo backpack with 500 rounds and a stolen doorgunner feeding from the backpack to the weapon) but those are rare, because of the trouble you get if anyone sees it.
The standart MG 3 in the BW has no kind of scope.

How about MEC? Is there any plan for an LMG? HK23E is rare, but MEC does not exist as well...
It doesn't have to be HK23E, but could be maybe an RPK or RPD, a lot of middle eastern armies use it.

Re: German MMG and MEC's LMG questions
If I remember right, the devs were hesitant to use Russian small arms with the MEC because of the difference in cartridge size. The reasoning behind it was that in any real army it would be a pain to supply front line troops with the 7.62x51 ammo that both the G3 and MG3 use as well as the 7.62x39 ammo that the RPK and RPD use, so instead of giving them a separate weapon for the AR they just made it a more manageable drum mag fed MG3.

Hmmm yes, that makes a lot of sense. Why have more than one (or two) cartridges for most weapons, it would be a mess.

Re: German MMG and MEC's LMG questions
Although I dunno if I buy it. They use russian vehicles which also use russian weapons on them. The T72, for example uses a PKT gun which fires 7.62x54. So take that how you will.
