Infantry Movement Speed

Post by K4on »

GAMEPLAY:
  • Updated infantry to have slightly reduced movement speed (sprint reg/duration is not affected!)
PS: As the movement changes are quite sensitive, we will open a feedback thread in a week.
In the meantime you can check the gameplay yourself, so we get real feedback not just based on assumptions.
Hey guys,

as written in the changelog, here the feedback thread.

Here a few details about what has been done:

We decreased the movement speed about 10% from it's 1.0 value, now you need ~30s sprinting time for 150m (20s for 100m). The stamina settings remained the same.

Also the direction change while running got lowered slightly;
Turning around 180degrees while running takes now a bit more time.

We know that this is a sensitive topic, we are mainly interested in the communities gameplay POV.
Was our goal, slowing down the pace of the game slightly, in your favour? Or do you prefer 1.0 settings here?

Constructive feedback is appreciated!

A game like pr is automatically already slowed down compared the other games. Slowing peoples run speed just makes it way too much. Running in general adds in the "adrenaline affect" which to be honest really works in a game like pr e.g. running to cover or running from a tank. This 10% I think has really been too much.

I'd prefer a system where you start off really fast and then slow down but Rudd said it really isn't possible I think.

Good changes overall.
Directionchange felt a bit weird at first but soon felt natural. It kinda gives your player some "weight".
10% decreased movement speed doesn?t really change anything gameplaywise. Perhaps lower it some more.

Things i like to see:
20 sec sprint (100m)
Old sprint regen. (was it 1 min?). This is the gamebreaker.

I think sprint should only be used and saved for crossing dangerous areas or those "OH SHIT" moments.
Players and SL should need to think about and manage the squads movementspeed.

not really works,PR cant be played that slow and the soldier seems to runs tired if it applied if you hurt and have some kind of adrenaline bonus wen you get suppressed should be a go, but this could be applied for soldier how have heavy gear like the machine gunner HAT or light gear as the Rifleman medic squad leader and breacher.
also if we have a second sprint button so we can run more fast and consume more stamina that's could be good for the "oh shit" moments.

I think its a good step forward, but as of now, its only hurting the gameplay. Since deviation is PEW PEW PEW, it will be easier to hit a moving target than ever before, a 2-3 second settle time would be the perfect thing to slow the pace of teh game.

Yeah, a lot of players told me that they didn't even notice the difference but it feels very different to me. I think it makes sense because of all the gear and weapons and I prefer slower, more tactical gameplay anyway. I hated it when players would run around like crazy to avoid being shot or rush into a room at top speed and spray everyone inside. Felt too fast and arcade-like. Thanks for the change, devs!

I noticed I need a bit more time while moving on foot for longer times, but totaly forgot that it was changed.
IMO it is a good decision 20s for 100m for a soldier with full gear (up to 40 kilo extra) is really good in RL.

But is this bad or good?
Imo it is good. It makes you think twice before crossing a street that might be covered and makes suppressive fire more effective as you cant just sprint away from it.

bad, i believe in real life you could run faster if you got suppressed to cover to save your life, like i said if we have a second button to fast sprint and consume more stamina should be good in moments to save your life.

Its bad cause one day we will get all people just sitting.
And main pr rule will be very simple rule: Sitting means win, running means loose.

When we talk about reality we shouldnt forget gameplay.
Really balanced game should stimulate both tacktics(passive and active) but not only passive.

Its a great change, i think sprint should be even lower - 15% but stamina increased, and the default jog speed should remain the same before the change.
Forgive my bad English... :?

You believe...

So basically you are saying if I fire suprressive fire on enemys it will make them faster?
I admitt that a panic button for a faster sprint with massive loss of stamina and extreme deviation might work.

Also a slower spritn doesn't lead to more camping (only fools would do that) but you need to think more where and when to cross a road.
