Will there be hammer and sickle symbol for soviet forces?
That symbol is banned in Poland, and most of eastern European countries consider soviets much worse than germans.
After all, if we look at the facts and statistics Stalin was the worst dictator in history in all levels...
Project Reality is a mod and doesn't have to follow those rules to the letter. If it's going for historic accuracy then there's no reason to wash out the swastikas. It's all about context really.

No, some symbols are against the law in some countries like Germany, Ubisoft recently had to remove it from the new south park game. As our rules state, "Political symbols are forbidden." Therefor if you use it, you it will automatically be rejected, This is not open to debate.

What happened with Ubisoft.

One of the reasons why we want to avoid political symbols is to leave out potential political debates that might arise plus silly accusations (like the team siding with one ideology). Some political symbols are also forbidden in certain countries. There are more cons in allowing them than otherwise.

It's that simple to understand. I find it hard to believe that political symbols are that much important to create an artistic piece of a conflict that took place worldwide. Take chuc's piece for PR's launcher as an example. And creating issues about something such as this only reinforces why we decided this way.

This not a thread open for discussion on that matter.

I have decided to extend the deadline to 5th of April. All who submitted their works until now can re-submit if they wish to.

The reason for this is that there seems to be some confusion about what we're aiming at for this graphic design contest.

First, let me start by highlighting one line in the OP:
- Works that depict subtle changes on a photo will most likely be rejected. Draw it yourself or apply similar effects. Take PR's launcher background image as an example.
This is Chuc's image.

You can also take examples from this, this, this, and this. You can also pursue other kind of works like pencil drawing, real photos with smooth color effects on them and even digital art.

Just pretty much anything that requires a certain commitment and technique to their works. Using a historical photo and change it with a couple of effects won't cut it as we would prefer using the real thing if that was the case.

I hope you now understand what we're looking for.

OP is updated, so feel free to take a look. If you have any questions please address them here.

This is the saddest part of the story.
If you say Hitler loved dogs, you gotta say that six million jews died and that Hitler was a monster, or else you are crucified as nazi symphatizing devil.

I know the reasons why these symbols can't be in the game.

Yes, I agree on this with you. I suggest we change US symbols for dollar marks, brits for smoking chimney and german ones to jolly rogers.
I don't believe that this would affect to the game experience at all.

And on that note, let's end the talk about politics, please. We've all agreed that this is not open for discussion here.

I'm almost happy you didn't add in any soldiers, looks much more dark and eerie without them... Good job!

Off we fuck.
