Re: Mumble (no voice)
I think I got exactly the same problem...
-I can't hear them
-They can hear me
-No names show up when people talk
-Sometimes I hear "tsss" sound, sometimes not.
-No sound when configuring sound in mumble
*Tried changing sound outputs
*Running mumble in XP sp 3 and admin
*Tried alt-tab and restart mumble during game
* Tried with and without headset
*Tried reinstalling game.
I also noticed when I have PR running and alt-tab to desktop all sound outside PR stops working, I get no sound from youtube videos while PR is running and I also noticed outputs/inputs devices on skype stopped working so I can't make a call while PR is running (Altough I think it works when starting Skype and then starting PR)
Someone please help us fix this :/

Re: Mumble (no voice)
Ason sorry I didn't respond, I've been really busy.
One of the easier troubleshooting options here is to uninstall then reinstall the onboard audio drivers.
If you want any help tracking down the drivers , post your system specs, and I'll google for them too.
You need your exact motherboard manufacturer and model number to get the right ones when searching on google or the manufacturer's website. Or on like Realtek's or VIA's website .

Re: Mumble (no voice)
Thanks for the respond Lito
I hope this is the info you need, otherwise tell me how I can find it.
I'm using Realtek, I don't think I've ever used the AMD and it also says it's unplugged and deactivated.
Thanks

Re: Mumble (no voice)
THat's the right info to search,
Make sure to select 32Bit or 64 Bit windows, and try downloading the newer audio drivers:
version Version V6.0.1.6482
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download K53TA
I really don't know how to troubleshoot this, I'm at a loss because the built in notebook speakers should be working no matter what.

Re: Mumble (no voice)
I installed the driver and now I can atleast hear the sounds when configuring mumble and I also see the spinning icon when the surround sound is testing(?) but I still don't hear anyone ingame and I also don't see the names when someone is talking, I hear the tss sounds though.

Re: Mumble (no voice)
Not trying to be funny, but you might have your mumble colume output set to 0% inside of mumble.
Try binding a shortcut key to Volume up 10% and volume down 10% like in this picture.

Then use the volume up shortcut to increase the volume.

Re: Mumble (no voice)
alright I added them to the list, will try it out when I get home from work. But if it was just the volume being too low, it should still show the names of the guys talking in the bottom left of the screen right? Or was that removed?

Re: Mumble (no voice)
Only two people can answer this, one is dbzao and he's retired, and the other is Ancientman, and he's busy IRL ...
IF you are hearing the 'Tsss' sound then you have your PRBF2.exe, PRLauncher.exe and PRMumble.exe programs linked correctly, but IDK the inner working as to this exact problem you and Grober are experiencing.

Re: Mumble (no voice)
Alright, thanks anyway lito. I'm just curious, Mumble is located in the mods/pr/bin folder right? I got version 1.0.0.0, is that the right one? My mumble looks old, should it look like this:

sound setting in case someone can see something wrong

Re: Mumble (no voice)
That looks correct, BUT:
GRanssnitt
System: DirectSound
If you can change that to System : WASAPI , then click Apply Verkstall and test it. That might be the problem, or it might just be your particular syste,/
In Windows taskbar, right click your white speaker icon, select Playback Devices, then make sure you have the correct speaker or headphone selected.
Then in the Mumble Konfig window,
GRanssnitt
System: DirectSound (or WASAPI), you might have to try both.
Enhet : Choose (Default Device)
then click Apply Verkstall and test it in PR online.
It is more than likely you are set up correctly right now. But changing to default device would be the last easy option to test.

Re: Mumble (no voice)
yes exactly, I have also thought about this. It also said something like "couldn't find directsound output you were silenced" but the problem is I can't change it. When I click on it nothing happens, not even an empty dropdown list.

Re: Mumble (no voice)
One last thing, most of the K53TA models have HDMI out,
If you have a HDMI cable, connect your HDMI output to a HDMI stereo receiver or even your TV's HDMI input.
Then change your Windows default audio output to HDMI output,
then check Mumble options and either select the HDMI output or default output,
then test.
Not a long term solution put can at least help troubleshooting for now.
