Mechanical Keyboard Suggestions
Hey guys, my keyboard is starting to **** out on me (it stops working for a second or 2 every 10-15 seconds) and so now I'm looking into upgrading to a mechanical. The 3 I'm really looking at are the Logitech G710+, Corsair Vengeance G95 and the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. Thoughts on these 3 and what do you all suggest that may be comparable? Basically I want mechanical, backlight keys and a few extra keys for inputs for my games like DCS.

they are trying to sell you their keyboards, but it's one of the best overviews I've read.
make a run to BestBuy or something and test the diffferent actions between various Cherry MX keys types.

I've had the first generation of the Blackwidow Ultimate for 3 years now, and it has served me well. No problems so far.
I can't remember the colour of the switches atm, but the are quite loud. Worth having in mind. Also the software for making macros and stuff is a bit cumbersome to use, but it gets the job done. Eventually.

Currently using the Corsair K70. Very nice keyboard, pretty much the same as the K95 - just doesn't have the macros.
LEDs with the K95 are a pretty big problem though. I haven't had any issues with my red-backlit K70. Apparently the issue is with the blue LEDs burning out after a couple of months.

Re: Mechanical Keyboard Suggestions
I've messed around with the Razer and the Logitech at Best Buy before and I'm kind of split between the 2. I haven't seen the Corsair before, it's just in the mix because their products are awesome.
Honestly if I went between the Razer and Logitech, I would probably go Logitech. Just wanting to see what everyone's thoughts are.
Just read that article you posted Lito and the Corsair with the Cherry MX keys is looking more appealing. I may search around and see if there's any local I can mess around on.

Logitech has nice software in my experience. Haven't ever owned a Logitech gaming keyboard, though.

No wonder I hear you typing...
My honest opinion is that Logitech is best at mouse and keyboard without a doubt. Their other peripherals not so great, but I can vouch for the mice and keyboards, they're always top notch.

Re: Mechanical Keyboard Suggestions
I've preferred Logitech for quite a few years now, and I plan to purchase new models when I can afford a new PC build.
While the 710+ is a nice keyboard, I personally prefer the G19 for gaming. But if you're dead-set on mechanical, the 710+ is great. Some people complain about the "lack of clack", or the quiet keys that don't have as loud of a click when you press them. But personally, I hate having keys that clack away like an old-school typewriter. The bump feedback you feel in your fingertips is more than enough, and the 710 still has enough of a click to do the job. The Black Widow does have a much more audible feedback, but there are some features of that model that I don't like.
I am not familiar with Corsair outside of their memory products (RAM), so I can't offer any comments regarding their keyboard. Razer is a good company though, and overall their products have been great. But I have some bias towards Logitech as their products have been the best I've used so far and I have no desires to switch any time soon.

Re: Mechanical Keyboard Suggestions
That was the big difference I've noticed between the Razer and Logitech. The Razer sounds like you're beating away on it when you're barely touching the keys. I prefer the quietness of the Logitech, especially for late night gaming. And the Logitech has different colored keys for the important ones for gaming when you have to take a quick peak at the board.
Thanks for the response guys, probably going with the Logitech.

Newegg.com - Corsair Vengeance K60 Black/Metal USB Wired Gaming Performance, FPS Mechanical Keyboard
I love it for gaming, i just cant type with it. I have large hands and fingers. with this board the keys are so sensitive I make a lot of typos.

Re: Mechanical Keyboard Suggestions
If anyone is still looking to get a mechanical keyboard, I can highly recommend the Corsair Vengeance K95. As long as you don't mind ONLY having white backlight. (Yes, that was sarcasm)

Re: Mechanical Keyboard Suggestions
I completely agree.
It's classic consumerism. If someone wants to pay $125 for a mechanical "gaming" keyboard AND want customizable LED backlighting? They should have went for the $150 model. Business is business.

Re: Mechanical Keyboard Suggestions
Went down to my local Best Buy and sure enough they had a Logitech G710+ on sale for $115. Of course, I actually had some money to spare cause of a recent raise I got at work, so I picked it up.
First impressions so far are impressive. As I mentioned earlier, it's not loud like the normal mechanical. It doesn't 'CLUNK' and 'CLICK' every key stroke. It's also quite simple to type on, and doesn't seem to have double stroking issues.
