Can I run PR on my specs

Post by SilverHawk11 »

Hello all. Can I play BF2 PR on low settings with good fps ?

CPU: Intel Celeron 2.66 GHz (2.7)
GPU: ATI RADEON X1650 PRO 512 MB
RAM: 1 GB DDR1 200 Mhz

I have BF2 Vanila on Steam. Can I play it with original version and can someone explain me how to install if possible or send a link with guide.

- Thanks

Your CPU and Video card should handle it, but you got a problem with your Rams, i suggest to get atleast 2 gb more, because even to load all the stuff in PR it neads around 2GB.

Yep I concur. But I will add this to the thread; If your board could handle 400mhz DDR, that would work much more efficiently than 200mhz DDR. But if not a couple more gigs of the 200mhz ram would definitively help.

Sorry iSmall, I neglected to answer your other question. Here you go brother:

If you browse around the forum using "key" or pertanant words in the search function, you'll find much more sage advice for installing and playing.

If it's old single-core s478 celeron (most likely it is) then PR wont be playable no matter how much of ram he has

True sirfstar, the Celeron is an entry level processor but after all BF2 came out in 2005 before multicore processing that is other than server processors.

SilverHawk11 try this link to be sure:
Can You RUN It | Can I run that game | Game system requirements
It's a small app that will analyze your system specs for bf2 or any other game listed for that matter.

I've tried PR 0.98 with P4 531 OCed to 4.2ghz (which is more powerful than almost any celeron) and I guarantee that 1.0 will not show even 15fps with it.
But anyway until we don't know which celeron actually it is we can't say anything.

Very true PR is much more demanding than BF2 and those overall specs including the Celeron are hardly robust for any game prior to say; MoHAA OR BF42. In my opinion the best bet for SilverHawk11 before throwing any more money into it would be to try the "can you run it" game system requirement app. At least he'd know if the processor would handle the BF2 engine....and he'd know exactly what Celeron version he has.

Actually I doubt you will be able to run PR. I have a dual core 2.8 GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, and 1GB ATI GPU. Lots of times I get less than 15fps.
