I don't know how to fix this, unfortunately. We tried replacing the ground texture, recompiling the terrain, etc. so not sure what else to try. One thought that came up after the original report is the height of the terrain. I can't remember the details, but there is something from the vBF2 code about an aircraft touching terrain above a certain height and that the game doesn't think it's landing, but is crashing. If you guys have any other ideas on what it is, please post.

I believe it has something to do with the landing gear code; it requires both a threshold altitude (true alt, not radar alt) and threshold speed be true in order to deploy. Minimum altitude is usually not an issue when landing on other maps, but Bijar's MEC airbase, unlike all other airbases in the game, is elevated. The base CAN be landed on, but requires a very flat glide slope in order to give the gear time to deploy.

I see two options:

1. Lower the terrain for the MEC airbase (probably a bit of trouble)

2. Make a variant of the MiG-29 (only plane MEC uses on the map) that has a higher gear-down altitude threshold. (probably the easiest)

Yes! That's what it was. Thanks Jafar :)

Lowering the terrain would be very difficult because we don't have the original files, lightmaps, etc.

If you could create a variant, I'd happily make the changes to the gameplayobjects files.

It is done. You can put them in the level when everyone's ready.

Looks like it still has problems, I came in@620 one time and went in perfectly, no smoke or anything. Did the same thing again, insta burst into flames and could not make it to the repair station in time. When I push down and then pull up, it usually works fine. Many of my CASmates can confirm to this, since we spent half our time waiting for the jets to spawn in because of this bug. Perhaps cover the airfield with repairstations sunk into the airfield?

The changes we made to the Mig-29 haven't been pushed out yet so you still have the old version. The changes will be in the next patch/update.

If it still doesn't fix it after the next patch, let us know and we'll dig deeper.

Thanks :)

No fix needed, its working without fix good. You have to fly slower and DONT land at the begin of the runway, land in the 2/4 area.

Well just cause you can avoid the bug with some practice and knowledge, it does not mean that we would not appreciate it just being fixed lol.

I was practicing landing one day in Bijar, and I successfully landed and my jet (the MiG fulcrum) multiple times. It never caught up in flames.

I tend to fly lower now when coming in to approach, until that day it never happened to me. I just need to pull up and then come in. Then again, a fix so this never becomes a problem again is always appreciated.

i've seen this happen on several occasions, but it was always S to N landing, where the pilot tries to taxi to repair on fire. i always land from the N to S, and it has never happened to me. maybe nothing to that though.

S to N is where it happens. Still see it happen sometimes, haven't had a problem like that personally in a long time. A fix would be appreciated, especially for those new to flying.
