As for the rank system in BF2, I don't own the game so I couldn't tell you from first-hand knowledge. But the easy way to tell is if the insignia are black and gold, it's Army, and if it's maroon and gold, it's the Marine Corps. Also, the enlisted rank titles of Lance Corporal, Gunnery Sergeant and Master Gunnery Sergeant in US service are exclusive to the Marine Corps.Wolfmaster wrote:i dunno. ask eddie. as eddie everything. wait for a mistake.![]()

the ranking system is flawed, because it doesnt make sense, just because im an assualt class in a jet, and i get lets say 50 kills, i get the basic assualt badge or whatever.... when i should only earn it through being an assualt infantry on the ground.
i think if they did put a ranking system, i think it should just be ranks, no badges or ribbons, the computer wont know if you hop on a nade because your dumb or i fbecause your actually trying ot save your team (just an example)

I am not entirely sure, if I "read" into your reply well enough or not, butBrokenArrow wrote:okay, the ranks in bf2 are black and gold, so thats army, and if i read one post right it said there is a lance corporal, so theyre wrong twice, 1 the ranks are army... black and goild 2 they still included a lance corporal.
the Ranks, in Battlefield 2 are Marine Ranks.
Army Ranks:
PV2
PFC
SPC < CPL
SGT
SSG
SFC
MSG < 1SG
SGM < CSM < SMA
(Those are Army Enlisted Ranks)
Battlefield 2, from my knowledge only contains Marine Ranks.

Sgt. E-5
SSgt. E-6
GySgt. E-7
MSgt E-8
1Sgt E-8
SgtMaj E-9

Sgt Major of the Marine Corps E-9
to help you people sort this out they decided to do the marine corps rank structure with the army color scheme Why you ask? iv got no idea i think becuase they didnt want it to seem like a totaly Pro US geared game they wanted to say "see were not using US army or US marine Ranks"

wrong there is the MEC and Chinesse in addition, they wanted a rank system that was easy for the majority of people to understand but at the same time just making it the standard USMC ranks might make it seem US biased so by using USMC ranks in Army colors people cant say "y do they only use the US ranks?"BrokenArrow wrote:but they are using US marines, so what theyre saying is 'hey we have no idea what the hell were doing'

they are US army colors correct? in which case both the marine corps and army are part of the US military... so its still US based, unless the MEC (which, doesnt exist and probably never will...) and the chinese use the same rank system as the US, then its still wrong, and US based.
okay heres some comparrison, the bf2 ranks system is TOTALLY US based, just a hybrid of the army and Marines, these ranks or insignias are nowhere near chinese or arabic military ranks
Marines:

USArmy:
http://www.military-quotes.com/ranks/ar ... signia.htm
Chinese Army:

Iran (for good measure on MEC):
http://www.uniforminsignia.net/show.php ... ran&id=244
Compare all those, definitly US based, they just screwed them up thats all. granted some of iran's insignias are similar for sergeants, but thats as close as they get.
