Re: =HOG= (North America)
what i do know, is everyone in PR has there own opinion, if you two cant figure it out then i dont know what to tell you. i would suggest since you both are so upset with this then go to the server in PR that has everything done to your tastes.
no need to OVER think everything that comes out, this isnt real life, take a breath, play the game and be happy. Honestly i dont think i have read ANY post on here from you too that was a happy thought.
if you want to IMPRESS us with your knowledge, then do so by playing the game without fanfare, bickering and nitpicking everything.
i mean really, Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces? lmao. We arent in europe, we came from the moon.

I can't see how my post was not constructive criticism that would require such a butthurt answer. If you re-read my posts you would see that I am not upset in any way. I merely requested clarification, which was obviously required since we all have different opinions, as you pointed out quite nicely.__Super_6__5__ wrote:what i do know, is everyone in PR has there own opinion, if you two cant figure it out then i dont know what to tell you. i would suggest since you both are so upset with this then go to the server in PR that has everything done to your tastes.

Guess that isn't enough for you?
Cheers for your arrogance. I am not here to impress you with any knowledge. It is pretty sad you fail to see my point. I just picked the next-best definition to prove my point.if you want to IMPRESS us with your knowledge, then do so by playing the game without fanfare, bickering and nitpicking everything.
i mean really, Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces? lmao. We arent in europe, we came from the moon.
By changing your asset rule to APC/IFV without specifying which is which will cause tons of drama - my bet is that is why you introduced the tracked and wheeled thing in the first place.
IFV/APC are hard to distinguish. I suggest you make clear what you mean with IFV (According to your definition: "2-men-operated-APC-that-are-not-tanks-or-AA").
You're welcome. I will refrain from posting further feedback. If you answer constructive criticism / questions in such a manner, I can't see why anyone would contribute.thanks for the input from all pr players!

Re: =HOG= (North America)
we're proactive on teamswitching, but it's not 100% of the time. we elect to switch between maps- reason being, we're on the permission list and swapping in the middle of a map can pull guys from the other side who aren't. it's not a science. it's an art, and we try to be polite about it. we try to be responsible about it.H.Maverick wrote:I'm really surprised that prWARs didn't even that out tbh, they are usually really good when it comes to clan stacking, thank you for bringing it to our attention![]()
i'd vouch for anyone in prWARs for appreciating good rounds. it's easy to critique. slightly more difficult to please everyone at all times. it's our task as players to find and strike that balance. in turn, it is also our role as clan(s) to take those necessary steps.
instead of throwing our hands in the air, bitching and giving up on reaching that goal as a clan, most of us still work hard towards it, playing hard all the while.
i'll take that a little further even, in saying that that's also true for most of the clans and regs who play on hog in general. you sprint 100m and fuck it up at the end, this is what you get- a screenshot damning 30 guys who play very well and very often, and an implication that all of them are passively collaborating to fuck the other 40 guys over. yeah i'll debate that conclusion.

Really? You'd be the first I heard in 8 years referring to IFVs the way you did. Literally the only thing that is common across all server and communities is to call out everything thats not a tank APC. Period.__Super_6__5__ wrote:what i do know, is everyone in PR has there own opinion, if you two cant figure it out then i dont know what to tell you. i would suggest since you both are so upset with this then go to the server in PR that has everything done to your tastes.

i tell you what, if you come up with a standard for all of this and get the other servers to follow suit, we will too and change everything to that standard. it would actually be a good thing, you in?

How about I give you a counter offer that isn't ridiculous. Read the other servers' rules and tell me what similarities you find regarding this matter.__Super_6__5__ wrote:i tell you what, if you come up with a standard for all of this and get the other servers to follow suit, we will too and change everything to that standard. it would actually be a good thing, you in?

If it carries people its an Apc. Everything else isnt an Apc. That is the simplest definition most players can relate to.

look, we cant make squad names too exact, like jevski said, if ifv is not right then it is something else because it certainly not an apc. save me the time sense you know the other servers, what class do they put it in?

Brainlaag wrote:It causes unnecessary confusion, if you already don't want to address IFVs properly just leave them be and use the universally accepted PR term APC, or "armor" in general.
No offense man but instead of reading the critique in posts, maybe you should focus on the actual content. I already said, if you are not willing to split it up properly by IFVs and APCs, which is totally fine by me since it will save you from a lot of discussions and drama once people start bitching over "BUT BUT LAV-25 ISN'T AN IFV, IT'S blablalba", just stick with APC (as in everything that can carry infantry, the rest is for tank squads). Thats what most of the other servers do, a few have rules for IFVs and APCs (regarding the armament size like mentioned before by Nate and me) and even less have simply first come first serve rules without proper naming. The only recent changes that I'm aware of, have been the addition of "mechanized infantry" subrules regarding those assets.Brainlaag wrote:Literally the only thing that is common across all server and communities is to call out everything thats not a tank APC. This is exactly why naming it APC works and why it is enforced. Hell, when we seperated the two into "tracked apc" and "wheeled apc", people still fucked that up.FatalWaffles wrote:We (CIA) now class IFVs as APCs for simplicity and opening squad spots.
Everyone in this thread that has posted about this issue can point out the differences between BTR, MTLB, LAV, AAVP, BRDM, Bradley, FV, Warrior, Cougar, Panther, or Puma. Not everyone in the game can. For sake of organization and the fact that we are limited to 9 squads, having IFVs and APCs in a single squad is easier to manage for the team, easier to manage for the players, and easier to manage in a set of rules for the server.
Dont like it called APC? Call it "Mech Inf". The point is that the limitations of the game right now requires assets to be consolidated, and this is how HOG and the general public (as shown by the vote that has held) deal with it.

Finally! Thank you guys for going through the motions and removing that rule. It only really made sense as MEC on Muttrah, and maybe another map or two. There will be a lot less confusion and bickering over assets now. Good job!
The only other issue I see is the whole "locked INF squad rule" to be enforced without logic a little to frequently, it only results in the SL having to kick players he does not want in the squad. Quite often said player will spam join/leave or troll the squad over mumble. If someone doesn't want to play with a large group and there aren't 15+ players unassigned forcing a squad to unlock is just flexing admin muscle and causing more work for admins who would likely prefer to play instead of micromanage Squad Leader attitudes.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
i will start with posting a message to to all players and admins. If that doesnt relieve the situation we will look into another process. i have talked with some admins to get them to be reasonable on the rule.
we do want clans to come here and if they want to be in the same squad, that is by far ok. As long as you dont lock the squad with just a few players then we can work with it.
i dont generally have a problem with pubbers, we just have to be leaders, in fact, (sorry clanmates) i can lead a squad of pubbers much easier and with more help than clanmates sometimes. My point is, work with the pubbers, then can be helpful especially if you tell them when they join the squad that if they dont stick with the squad and follow orders they will be kicked from the squad.
But, again, we will work on this issue, its hard to set a hard fast rule as people will be people and look for a way around the rule.
hang tight.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
Here's how I handle it, and it works pretty well. I haven't had an issue using this method.
1st thing I look at is if there are 9 squads. If there are only 7-8 then I really don't care if INF squads are locked.
2nd thing is I look for is who's in them. If there's 6 clan members in a squad and its locked, I let it be. I know what its like some matches where you just want to relax and not have to worry about a rogue pub.
3rd thing is what you are doing. If its a special squad (like Mortars) then I will usually let it stay locked.
4th is if you just talk to me and let me know that you want the squad locked, I'll let it stay locked.
I'm a lot easier on the rules than a lot of other admins, I just want to make sure everyone has a good time. I've been in my fair share of squads where there are a few rotten eggs that don't listen and are just in the squad for a kit.

i agree, 9 squads equals 72 players, so its not possible to fill them all, common sense above rules tends to play out better.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
I love HOG.... But what I hate.
1.I swear, you guys really don't listen to suggestions.
I remember tonight.... people suggested...
Vietnam
Khami
shijia
sands
kashan and dovre
then you guys put in...
Saaremaa, Sbeneh outskirts, Asad.
There are a few nights that I saw...
Asad, Gaza, Muttrah. of course muttrah won.
But please put in more variety... Xiangshan, Burning Sands, BG, hell even Dragon Fly....
2.Locked squads for assets....
I remember 2 nights ago.... it was like Khami.... we had a tank squad. They had 2 guys and like 4 tanks.... they only used one the entire round, got no kills. like wtf is that about? You guys didn't even warn them or such.
3.Please stop kicking people when they steal air assets and they are flying.... it really sucks having to wait like 15 minutes for the Cobra to respawn on Muttrah cause you guys kicked him while he was just taking off on the carrier and it flipped into the water.
4.Enforce TK's. I reported a few tks a while back.... (week or 2 ago) some clan intentionally tked my squad to get our Spotter, Sniper, Marksman, and medic kits.
I do like your guys's server, but i am just begging you guys put DIFFERENT maps in the votes at least. Not 2 crappy maps and one popular one.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
I'll reply since I was the one who did the mapvote you were talking about. When we did the mapvote, it was a post haste thing. We had less than 100 tickets and I just had to get it done so we didn't end up on the default map (Kashan INF). 9/10 maps, I will aways put in the suggested maps unless the maps suggested will kill the server (ie Ramiel AAS @ 1am with 30 players). If you have a suggestion, feel free to speak up and I will usually play whats suggested.
Locked asset squads: Most of these have a rule where you can't lock until a certain number of members are in the squad. Like for APC, the official rule is 6+ players before a lock. I sometimes during the setup before a map starts, locking is more than acceptable to make sure you get the guys you need in the squad instead of a flood of random people, but I think I will suggest on the HOG forums that asset squads can't be locked after the game has started. Just tossing around ideas because I agree with you.
Kicking while in air: We always try and avoid this but it comes down to communication. 99.9999999999999% of all reports are this "Player is stealing assets", or "Player TKed me". Make sure you are specific. Type in !r tequilabot is stealing a cobra, I will tell you when it is safe to kick him", or "!r Tequilabot just killed me in main for my sniper kit". The admins only can work with the info we are given. If its still a problem after the first report, send another report with new info. The report we see sometimes shoots by faster than we can see it.
Enforce TKs: We do. Just make sure you are detailed in why he tked you and if you are 100% positive that it was intentional. You wouldnt believe some of the reports we get every day..
What happened: Grunt tries to throw a grenade into a 2nd floor room. He misses and it lands at Bob's feet, tking Bob. Complete accident.
The report we get: "OMG GRUNT JUST TKED ME ON PURPOSE!! PROBABLY TO GET MY MARKSMAN KIT!!! BAN HIM NAAWOOOOOOWWWW!!!"
If you are 100% sure someone tked you on purpose (like if he did it for a kit or just being a dickhead), make sure to add that in your report.. don't just type out "Tequila tked me ban him". I'm not saying this was yours, but 99% of the time these are the only reports we see.
Im glad you like the server. I love being a guest admin here and I love supporting the community. I'll try harder to make sure I incorporate more suggested maps in. If all else fails, just report me a message like this:
"!r Tequilabot Hey can you put in Khami next map?" and I will see it for sure.
