Crew Kit?

Post by jamesthomson66 »

I just installed the latest pr bf2 and tried to use a tank But the statement I need the crewman kit came up. So how does one get this kit? When I go to the select what type of soldier I wish to be, this option is not there.

Is the manual included in the game or obtained elsewhere?

Welcome to Project Reality.

Please read the manual and play some offline single player rounds to get acquainted with the basics.

When you feel ready, I encourage you to join us on the battlefield in multiplayer. And please don't be afraid to tell your squad leader that you are new. Most SLs will be willing to help you. Stick with the basic rifleman kit then move on to the medic kit. After that, you will be ready for the more specialized kits. Good luck.

You can just skim the manual and ask question in game later if you want but the more critical things are in there, and if you want specialization then you can read it more in depth on that topic.

Need to be in a squad to select kits.

Not sure the medic is the ideal second step anymore.....

Welcome to the forum, first and foremost! :)

As they said, take a look at the manual. But be explicitly invited to ask questions that it can't answer, we'll do our best to help you :)

As for the crewman kit, look into the kit request system in the manual. Basically, after joining a squad or making your own, you press T while near the vehicle, select the crewman kit, which then spawns below your feet. It might be invisible, but you can pick it up with G. Your weapon and equipment changes and you can now use a tank.

Keep in mind that you cannot drive and shoot at the same time, however. To man the turret, you need a driver - otherwise the game will force you out of the tank. (Or kill you if you stay inside). This is to ensure that a single lone soldier in an online match can't man a tank (a vehicle that needs at LEAST two crew members to function) and be effective. This is also the reason for the 30 second delay before you can shoot the gun after entering it - this simulates your soldier seating himself properly, switching on the systems and so on.

To play online, just hop in an infantry squad, select the rifleman kit, tell the squad leader that you're new (so he doesn't expect you to know the maps inside out and be able to handle every specialized kit) and let him guide you :)
