Project Reality Roadmap, BF2 1.41 & PR v0.407 Server Files Update

Post by eggman »

Hey Folks,

Project Reality and BF2 1.41
Today EA released a v1.41 update to Battlefield 2. Until we determine compatibility we do not recommend installing this patch to your client or server.

We are working on a Project Reality v0.41 patch which will address BF2 v1.41 compatibility.

Project Reality v0.407 Server Files
Thank you for putting up with some bugs in the Project Reality v0.4 release. We apologize for the bugs! We knew the release would have some issues, but we thought we had resolved the major causes of server crashes before releasing.

The released version of PR v0.4 was build 0.406. We have prepared a v0.407 server files update. This server update is purely a bugfix and is not a BF2 1.41 compatibility fix, so please do not upgrade your servers to BF2 1.41.

There is no client update required for this minor patch
.

The changelog for this patch is as follows:
- fixed all known kit req bugs
- fixed team locked vehicle issue causing 95% of server crashes
You can download the new server build from here:
http://www.gloryhoundz.com/prmm/downloa ... server.zip
~ 130mb

The "Files" page should be updated later today with the new server download link.

This server build is compatible with v0.406 clients, so you can upgrade your server at any time. The sooner the better as this should prevent the majority of the server crashes admins have been experiencing.

Project Reality v0.41 Patch
We've started work on the v0.41 patch for Project Reality. This patch release will address the following:
- BF2 1.41 compatibility
- bugfixes
- minor performance enhancements to address lag issues
- game play tweaks to maps
- game balance issues
- game play tweaks

A changelog will be posted once we've finalized the content and are into testing.

There will be no new content in this patch.

No ETA at this time, but this is more in the order of next 2 weeks than the next 2 months. Another update will be posted next week.

The next Project Reality feature release
I dunno what version we'll call it. Nor do we know what features will make it into the release. We're hoping (but not promising anything hehe) to have a feature update released just before Christmas. Or Festivus, whatever the most politically correct term is.

It may include some of the stuff in the image below. It may not. The image is "work in progress" so is not completely accurate at this point, but the items below are in production.

Parting Shot
Again thanks for putting up with the bugs in v0.4. The v0.407 server update should make things much more stable. The upcoming v0.41 patch should address some of the game play issues identified in v0.4 and enable everyone to upgrade to BF2 1.41.

See you on the Battlefield!

Cheers!

Render looks awesome!

Does this mean that kit requesting will work?

Yes. Kit Req works on GlorHoundz (which is sort of our public test server) as well as on any ABR enabled servers that had upgraded to the latest ABR installer (we can push down server updates through ABR). But the v0.407 Server Update should fix all known kit req issues on all servers.

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.

Played it on After-Hourz which had it updated through ABR. The request kit works really well. Still had a complete server crash on Sunset City last night for the 32 man version on the second round about 5-10 minutes in. Not sure if the fix was part of those ABR files or not. Either way, thanks for working to address this so quickly.

its not a LMG, its a LSW, its the DMR for the request sniper kit on brit urban maps (ie, street).

also its not a map, its a render from max so the terrain is made up in max.

Thanks a ton Rhino, I was hoping this would be it... yay, game time!

plus, any interest in adding brits to a singleplayer level? none of the .4 levels added are in singleplayer yet, and i know you have to code tohe AI, but i was just curious as to if and when this would happen... thanks! :D

I think someone mentioned in another thread that it would be difficult to put the brits into an existing BF2 map because brit armor and aircraft aren't in yet. So you're probably looking at a decent wait.

Awesome guys. We've been playing a lot on BIGDY (Australia) and Black Beret was there on Tuesday night. 0.4 hasn't been that buggy for a major release, but it will be great to have Kit Limiting working as intended.

Also - I support OkitaMakoto's comments re: single player. It's not a high priority, but Kit Requests not causing a crash to desktop in single player (and hence co-op play) would be nice.
