Was browsing the internet when i came across ,US Army to replace M4 for the M4A1.
Does it mean that the US Army faction in PR may receive the A1 upgrade in the future? now i know this isn't something that the US Army will have for all of their deployed units for the next few years, but is this something that we will get?
Also, i know very well that it could easily create some debate if they really need it or not as it may be considered OP on INS, but I'm just curious, the CDF got the C7/8? with full auto and its kind of OP on ins considering its rather low recoil compared to the AK's in the game so it wouldn't be that much of a difference and the M4A1 is already in-game for Hamas.

Re: US Army switching out M4's for M4A1?
I've seen US teams go 300:100 on certain INS maps such as Fallujah without full-auto capacity, doesn't that scream overpowered already?
If the M4A1 happens to get shipped over to more and more units, I am sure some classes will receive it, the Breacher would be my prime example, full auto just rolls better in CQC, perhaps the Squadleader as well. Might be a little bit iffy trying to get the 6 possible combinations(Scope, Red-Dot, Iron Sight/M16(M4) or M4A1) to fit the class design, but we'll see how that goes.
Not sure whether or not the Israeli M4A1 can be used as a basis for the US M4A1s, they may consider redoing the rifle from scratch.

Besides the automatic mode, what other advantages/disadvantages does the A1 have?

It isn't really that much of news.
IIRC USArmy started planning to buy M4A1 a while ago.

Heavier barrel; so it melts down less often.GGEfferen wrote:Besides the automatic mode, what other advantages/disadvantages does the A1 have?

So i guess it got a fire selector on both sides and thats about it.Another feature that's new on the A1 is an ambidextrous selector lever, something that's especially attractive to Maddi, who said he's a lefty who often gets left out when it comes to equipment design.
The A1 is also, .32 pounds heavier if i'm not mistaken lol, yeah its only real advantage is the full auto, but is it really an advantage? I haven't been in the military myself and therefor won't comment on that, as i've noticed several times in PR that the Burst firing does the same damage sometimes.M4-A1 weighs 7.74 pounds, compared to the M-4's 7.46. The weight comparisons include the back-up iron sight, forward pistol grip, empty magazine and sling.

To my recollection the US military decided to go for 3-round bursts because it was deemed to be sufficient to successfully eliminate a person up close while ceasing the waste of ammunition caused by inexperienced soldiers panicking during the Vietnam War[Warning: Could be an urban myth]. The M16A2, as well as the M16A4 and M4 would(as opposed to the M16A1) not feature full auto capacity because of that.H.Maverick wrote:So i guess it got a fire selector on both sides and thats about it.

Fully automatic fire arms are more simple to handle when you're in close quarters and have to bring out the lead real quick, blindfire a mag around the corner, etc, but that's about it I guess.

No that's just about it. The main idea behind the three round burst was too force soldiers to aim, conserve ammo, and reduce wear, tear, and fail. The US military in it's infinite wisdom decided that three round burst was bad so the m16a3 was full-auto the the US military changed it's mind again when it redesigned the m16 for the m16a4 and put the three round burst mode back in.Frontliner wrote:To my recollection the US military decided to go for 3-round bursts because it was deemed to be sufficient to successfully eliminate a person up close while ceasing the waste of ammunition caused by inexperienced soldiers panicking during the Vietnam War[Warning: Could be an urban myth]. The same thing happened with the m4 except in opposite order. One day the US military will just have a semi, burst, full selector and stop BSing around with coming out with a "new" rifle that just changes the three round burst/full auto option.

The M16A3 was just a A2 with an A1 FCG IIRC and was not used. If the change is happening IRL, PR should represent it now with some kits like the Officer, Rifleman, and Rifleman AT or the Alt version of some kits.tankninja1 wrote:No that's just about it.
