I have read some post advising to remove or delete the pagefile to increase performance.

I have 4GB of ram and i was wondering if i would get a better performance by adjusting the pagefile somehow.

In Win 7, You need a pagefile when you only have 4GB of RAM. Always.

Yes you can do that with an 'offline defragmenter' program. UltraDefrag on sourceforge UltraDefrag - An Open Source Defragmenter

What hard drives do you have that you are thinking about this?

Also, It might be an option if you have a mobo with USB3 to buy a USB3 thumbdrive and use ReadyBoost.
