Game crashes

A friend of mine having a problem with PR and BF2. Both crashes as he tries to lauch the game. No error messages or sth like that. Game stops working and returns to the desktop. We tried a lot of things to get it fixed. But no good. What could be the problem?

He uses a creative x-fi extreme music audio card.

amd fx 8320 4,20 ghz
8 gb ram
redeon 7850 2 gb

thats his setup. Help pls.

there is no such file he says.

Ok, since it happens with BF2 as well, please get him to open BF2 in windowed mode (you can google how to do that). It should provide an error message. Screenshot that error and post it here.

Disable the creative x-fi extreme music audio card and then see if vanilla BF2 works.

Make sure you have no background overlay programs running.

AMD has begun adding crapware RAPTR overlay to their driver updates, you might have that running in the background.

Overwolf is also another common problem.

But shut down any and ALL overlay programs.

Also, try PRLauncher->Options->UNTICK Fullscreen. Change window size to something smaller than fullscreen. CLICK APPLY.

Run PR to test.
