[texture] US Army Multicam
I'm aware that the US army isn't planning on adopting the new multicam pattern, but as far as I know, it has been fielded in Afghanistan. tbh I just felt like making some new skins
Here's a demo of what I've been working on.
US Army Multicam
Using a _afghan suffix for these skins could be used on some of PR's Afghanistan maps while leaving ACU as the US army's main pattern for other maps or pre-multicam afghan maps.
I painted the multicam, so it may not be 100% accurate.
Worst case scenario, PR doesn't need em and I get a little extra practice. No big deal ^^

Re: [texture] US Army Multicam
worst case scenario is that these could be implemented on Korengal, please continue! (I always wonder what the US army would do if they entered the asian theatre etc with ICU cammo)
You might consider contacting R-DEV Sabre_Oz as he may have some references and advice for you

Re: [texture] US Army Multicam
I believe the Army just announced their new pattern the other day, which is to replace ACU, and the multicam in Astan. The scorpion camouflage. Was developed with in conjunction with Cry Precision and the Army back in the early 2000's, but then they went with ACU. Now it's not exactly the same as Multicam, there's quite a big difference between the pattern and colors.

http://soldiersystems.net/2014/05/23/us ... e-pattern/

So in the end the Army is moving from ACU, and Multicam.

Re: [texture] US Army Multicam
Multicam was never really a fully integrated camouflage in the rest of the Army, just for the Astan environment. It's good that they're changing to a better camouflage that out preforms ACU in just about everything.[R-DEV]Rudd wrote:they are already changing again?!

Having looked at Spush references, my multicam looks a bit more like Scorpion...

Re: [texture] US Army Multicam
There are differences between the two.
Scorpion

Multicam

Notice how there's less color gradients in the scorpion vs multicam, there's verticle camo in multicam, that and color is different, it's greyer saturated (although it could be the image itself that makes it seem so).

Not that it really matters- The resolution isn't high enough for one to be able to pick out many differences and afaik both are used in Afghanistan...
That being said, I'll aim to make it as accurate as possible-
Edit: Here's the multicam so far (I think its finished)

Re: [texture] US Army Multicam
well whatever happens, the Brits use MTP - very close to multicam, so surely this can be implemented for them? (with a few adjustements)..

Re: [texture] US Army Multicam
I think I mentioned that I was willing to help with british mtp in that thread. I personally miss the desert DPM, and MTP isn't always appropriate on some of the maps given the timeframe.
Anyway, here's a download link:
USA Multicam DDS
I have PSDs as well if the Devs want to hold on to them for whatever reason, but they're pretty huge files because I keep just about everything I've done for that texture in the PSD, even if it didn't work out. I uploaded them separately.

Needs the wrinkles on the diffuse, otherwise it will look flatter in game under certain lighting conditions.Insanitypays wrote: USA Multicam DDS

Added some wrinkles here and there. I made everything rather subtle, but there's certainly a noticeable difference when you open them up side by side.Spush wrote:Needs the wrinkles on the diffuse, otherwise it will look flatter in game under certain lighting conditions.

I'm no texturer. but if I'm looking at this right your 3p light body colourtexture won't match the normal maps for the pockets and knee pads etc? The heavy looks ok though

Re: [texture] US Army Multicam
I took that into account. I copied more or less over the ACU camouflage so there shouldn't be any more inconsistency in my work than there already is in PR.[R-DEV]Rudd wrote:I'm no texturer. but if I'm looking at this right your 3p light body colourtexture won't match the normal maps for the pockets and knee pads etc?
