Memory Errors

Post by tankninja1 »

How can I prevent memory errors. When switching between maps with lots of objects (Saarema to Black Gold) I usually crash from memory errors.

First of all what does the game mean when it gives an error message for a memory error: memory.dll allocation atemps failed #########?

It can't be a RAM thing, can it? I have 3.75 GB of RAM and BF2 can only use 2 at the most, so is it a virtual memory problem?

Also if it is a virtual memory thing how does that make any sense, isn't virtual memory basically "backup RAM" on your hard drive?

Anything at all. Its annoying to crash every other map to this problems. It got better in 1.2.1 but still happens a lot.

3325MB. I set it on system managed as that was the best option I found through fiddling.

Display Mode(s): 1680 x 1050 (32 bit) @ 60 Hz

Display Mode: 1024x768@60Hz

looking at this, although it may not relate to your problem but displays should match. you have your resolution set at 1680 x 1050 (32 bit) @ 60 Hz and in game set at 1024x768@60Hz, make them both the same. also your system specs are incomplete so the tech will likely struggle to help.

I've always found having equal dimm modules worked best.2-4-6 GB, etc. you have 3.75? not saying that is an issue either but I would test the ram.

net framework-unknown?

update drivers?

pagefile, I have mine set to automatically manage paging file size but I'm running a more updated OS and system. you may want to set it to custom and set it to the recommended paging file size. make both entries the same as the recommended size, set, reboot.

you're definitely having memory issues and I have found it's a process of elimination so I would start by testing the ram.

not much help, just an observation.

Well i have 4gb worth of sticks involved but only 3.75 gb is useable. At any rate the BF2 engine can only use 2 gb or RAM max.

As for framework version its hard to tell, not clear. If you know I good way to find it that would be helpful.

As for drivers they are set for automatic updates not that anything would be updated anymore.

Have you even read this following thread? I solved my CTD issues by this on my older XP machine back then...

Look in "control panel" and "software". then click "list udpates" and see all things...

Maybe memory errors from your HD 5450 ? How much GPU RAM you have? 512 MB or more?

It's a 1Gb card so it should be stable, or so I would think.

I did see that post but I was hesitant to try it as it is unsupported.

What kind of "unsupported" do you mean?

.NET Framework:
Download Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows 2008 R2 - KB2836939 from Official Microsoft Download Center

GPU driver: select your type of system, product family, product, supported operating system
Download Drivers

memory tests:
4 Free Memory Test Programs (Updated August 2014)

if you're tech savy enough, windows no longer supports XP so you can't get the memory diagnostic iso there anymore but you can get it here and create a start up disc.

Windows Memory Diagnostic:
Download Microsoft Windows Memory Diagnostic - MajorGeeks

good luck!

Large Address: False
You should try this:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ost1721218

It's supported, officially by Microsoft, and AncientMan has included this
Large Address: False
in the Specs page just to check it so we can offer people to use the link above to get PR to use all their RAM.
