R and came back today to revisit one of the greatest team oriented games I've ever played. After messing around with keybindings and getting all my stuff sorted, I joined a populated server (Free Candy Van [Los Angeles])...I'm stoked I'm back in the game.I join just as a map is ending, load up a new one (Ramiel), join a squad, get designated as grenadier by my squad leader, spawn in at the northern most spawn point with my squad as instructed and we wait for orders...just then I get kicked from the server with the generic BF2 "you have been kicked and banned by an admin for excessive teamkilling"...I hadn't fired a shot or taken more than 5 steps as I wasn't spawned in for more than 45 seconds.
I looked up the Free Candy Van's TeamSpeak server and connected in hopes of talking to an admin to sort this out. While searching for the appropriate channel to join I get pulled into a channel with about 5 guys and an admin named "bren" asks "what's up AbortedMan?". I tell them the story and they explain that I probably got booted for not being in a squad...I tell him that wasn't the case and that I'd just spawned in with my squad, hadn't fired a shot. I then stated I hadn't played PR in about a year and was excited to get back into playing again, his response:
"Well, just stop playing for another year and I'm sure you won't be banned." Then he promptly banned me from their TS server for the following reason:
WTF is going on here? Is this the kind of people that are running PR servers now?
EDIT: Apparently it was a case of mistaken identity. Brenn4n has PM'd me, explained the situation and removed the ban.
