I actually played coop a bit adding in the version with the black button just to see what angles I'd be seeing it from etc, so I was aware of that. I was just making a little joke. It's funny how things like that can take a disproportionate amount of time to work on. Its worth it in the end though ^^

You should look into the research programs more. ACU wasn't picked because it gave the best camouflage in Iraq urban settings. But being useful in many settings, including urban, was a main reason.

The report I read was directly from the research group that decided what the Army was going to wear. I'd send you a link but that was 10 years ago. No clue where to find it now.

This could stand do be woodland, I think the standard version, which would be used in desert should be quite a bit faded and dusty. If you need reffs for that pm me.

It can, but there are no woodland situations for it. Historically the pattern was only fielded in Afghanistan in small numbers while ACU was still the main pattern used.

It'll be a while before scorpion is the most used pattern by the US army, and if I'm still here when that happens, I'll make it.

I like to think that PR takes place b/w 2004 and 2010. As this mod gets older, comfacs might need to make 'present day' variants of nations as new factions.

Yes. ACU gets a bad rep from just about everyone. I think its a better pattern than people give it credit for. The new Scorpion pattern isn't that much better anyway, especially compared to multicam

Kinda, however we do keep adding updated weapons, vehicles and uniforms, so the US army will now just have scorpion.

I'm not sure if that's true. Last I checked PR wasn't going for the most recently adopted equipment, rather, it seems they stick to the most widely used gear in each army.

If they're needed, I can still go ahead and make desert+woodland scorpion skins, but I don't think there are any relevant maps for them. Most of the conflicts regarding the US Army are taking place in Afghanistan (which should end this year), and the conventional conflicts all take place around 2007. Not all of the Afghanistan maps with the US even take place while we were using multicam. (I might make some 2001-2003 skins though if there are maps representing battles that took place early in the war)

Try thinking of it like this: If PR starts doing near future scenarios with the US army, they'll need more than just new player skins. That will take updated weapons, vehicles, and possibly even kits. For example, humvees are going to be more or less phased out by the time the US Army finishes adopting Scorpion.
The opposing faction may also need updated equipment for their timeframe as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited to see how scorpion turns out. The US army isn't adopting it as a multicam pattern either, which I find relieving, although one version will be transitional. There are also likely to be two other patterns dedicated to each woodland and desert environments specifically.
My prediction is that they will likely do all the vests/bags in transitional and have environment-dedicated BDUs, but it's hard to tell.
I'm sure you can see how this makes it pretty hard to predict and gives me limited real world references to work on as opposed to 2010-2014 multicam.

I decided to come look these over one more time and I found+fixed a few inconsistencies.
I made the pattern slightly greener to match my reference pics, made the stitching on the 1p sleeve less obvious, and made the pockets on the arms tan instead of green (again to fit with my refs). I added a bit more dirt and grunge too.

That looks beautiful. I will hire the LAAF to kidnap the devs if they don't add this to afghan maps.

Somewhat true but if a new bit of kit that's coming in soon is going to be very widely used then we try to stay ahead of the change if we can. But keeping up with r/l changes is pretty tricky which is why the modern Brits are still using loads of old kit, with a bit of the new kit, simply because we haven't been able to keep up with the recent changes to Brit kit. TBH a lot of the stuff we use ingame for the Brits is actually not used on the front line anymore :p

I vote for using Scorpion/MultiCam for any "realistic fiction" maps (Op Barracuda, etc) and maybe Afghanistan maps, ACU for other historic War on Terror maps, and DCU (same as the French on Op Marlin) for Ramiel/Mogadishu.
