3-Men Kits

Post by Hell »

Hello,

Lately, we've seen kits that required 2 soldiers in a squad (Sniper, Spotter, Engineer, other?) now require 3 soldiers to be requested.

I would like to suggest that we go back to the 2-men system. I'm not sure I understand all the reasons for putting it at 3 soldiers (avoid people from joining a squad and leaving it with the sniper kit?, ...) but I believe the 2-men rule is better.

A simple reason, Snipers and Spotters are usually alone on the Battlefield... The less people, the less visible they are. If we require 3 men, it makes them more visible to the ennemy.

Furthermore, on a gameplay perspective, assume a classic squad of 3 men : Sniper-Spotter-Medic. Since Snipers/Spotters are not supposed to be seen there are not supposed to be shot at. Rendering the medic useless. Unless the 3 men are from the same clan I doubt the 3rd random guy (playing medic) would want to stick to the Sniper/Spotter and wait while the Sniper shoots and the Spotter spots.

Those are the Official reasons I give.

The personal reason for that request is that I usually play with another guy. We like playing a 8-man squad (which I usually lead) but sometimes we really appreciate to be only 2 in the squad and snipe ennemies. It is also less stressful for me playing as SL since I don't have to lead a whole 8-man squad.

Now we are pretty much obliged to play 8-men squads but that removes some fun to the game for us. (Always stressing with 8-men)

Thanks.
Nate.

1.
A server can have a maximum amount of 9 Squads

2.
Almost nobody uses the combo of "Spotter/Sniper" effectively to contribute to the team.

3.
A Sniper/Spotter Team will always need a medic at some point.

I also liked that 2 men could grab the basic kits needed for a successful operation, but I see the reasoning to increase it to 3 players.
SL-Engi-Medic // Sniper-Spotter/SL-Medic // HAT-Medic-SL // ...

You can always join the CAS Squad with your Spotter/Sniper and help them out. Or the trans squad. No need to squadlead a 2-men-army when there are so few slots for squads.

The changes in the squad size requirements for made to promote bigger squads. Like Nate said we are stuck with 9 squads for 50 people, having 2men squads is really bad in those situations.
To compensate this we allow to have 2 snipers in one squad. So when you want to make some recon squad you can make 2xSniper+1xSpotter and have the snipers spread out. Just because you are in one squad does not mean you have to stick together. Obviously this is only true for certain squads, infantry should also stick together.

I'd love to have access to all the kits for my locked 2 man squad as well. Why all this 'Use the SL kit' malarkey?

(Meant in sarcasm, need I point it out).

Me personally I liked the 2 men kits. In Fallujah, Insurgency, playing as BLUFOR, me and a friend with just an officer kit and a engineer kit managed to be more effective at blowing up a cache than the rest of the team, less people facilitate movement.

I do understand why this was done though, and I agree with it. For sniper teams, if you don't need a medic in the team, you're not doing it right. Viewrange in most maps don't allow for super long range sniper shots, and usually there's buildings or trees in the way. As a sniper you have to get up close, get on the enemy's flank, go behind their lines, conduct recon and sabotage, and eliminate high value targets (mortars, other snipers, officers, etc.). You end up being compromised a lot of times, and a good old medic is always handy.

One downside for the 3 men sniper team though is that, from experience, being a medic for a sniper team is rather boring. That still depends on how the snipers play though.

It looks that way to you because you took one of the very limited CE kit available.
==========
In any case, 2-main squads are toxic to gameplay(as do many other things); at least in populated servers in NA, people have been stuck without viable squads because they don't speak Spanish for BR squads and don't want to play with retarded "free kit" squad.

The kit has nothing to do with the effectiveness of a 2 man squad. The engineer kit is inferior to the breacher in close combat, and it's effectiveness at destroying a cache is exactly the same.

And I can assure you our 2 man squad was not a problem, it was on MeRK, which has a 84 player limit, it was shortly after a server crash, so the server was not even full.

Well, too bad it doesn't seem like we will go back to the original setup. Too bad.

Thanks for feed-back.
