PR always crashes on the Menu after ReviveBF2 installation

Post by Vista »

Hey,

So, I installed the ReviveBF2 (BF2 Battlelog - Home) "mod" on my PC and I noticed that right after I installed it, when I launch PR, it crashes before the in-game menu pops up.

I have

1- Unistalled the ReviveBF2 launcher and mod. PR crashes.
2- Re-installed PR. PR crashes.
3-Re-installed BF2 and PR. PR still crashes.

I'm out of ideas at this point

Help :p

Maybe try reinstalling the ReviveBF2 Mod, start BF2 through the Revive BF2 Launcher and properly shut down BF2.

I did that, didn't work

One thing to note though - I launched PR through their laucher and was able to reach the PR menu (but once I got there, It tould me to lauch PR through PR's own laucher - as expected)

After I posted the post saying that bloodydeed's method didn't work I completly removed BF2 out of my PC (deleted all the folders, everything). Then I obviously installed it back and installed both PR and ReviveBF2. After that I started PR, it crashed again. So I started ReviveBF2 in windowed mode, played for 3-4 minutes in a server and closed BF2 through the menu. After that I started PR and the issue was fixed

(That's what I sent to all the PMs asking for it :) )

ReviveBF2 modifies the %windir%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file, and has a tendency not to clean up after itself. Check this file for any *.gamespy.com redirections and remove them. You may have to copy the hosts file to your desktop, modify in notepad, then copy back into the etc folder if you have UAC enabled.

I know this is super old but i wanted to clarify that battlelog.co no longer uses hostfiles as a method of translation. We have modified our methods to not interfere with the PR and FH Launchers.
