BF2 doesn't do multicore at all, pretty much. I ask as I have the option of putting a good graphics card in an old E8500 3.2 system, and I'd be keen to compare with a more modern i5. Odd it may seem but I only play PR nothing else.
I find it already impressive that you're on all high with 8xAA.
The i5 will naturally fare better in this instance, as the instructions per clock that it can handle are higher, which mean that at any given frequency, it will be able to handle more instructions than the older generation Exxx series.
