Concerns About PR: BF2

Post by Metabor »

Hi everyone, i watched some amazing PR videos in youtube. I want to start this mod, however i have some questions if anyone answered i'd be glad. How are servers' population, if it's not crowded i don't wanna start game.

My other concern is that i'm gonna be a new player for this mod, how are squad leaders and clans' attitude generally? I don't wanna play alone but in a clan. I don't use mic but i follow orders, i have experience from other fps games. Thanks in advance...

Project Reality: PRSPY

Here you can see the current servers that are up. You can find this page by using the the PRSPY button on this website at the top.

Generally SL's will help you out, but obviously you'll have to tell him that you are new. It's also your responsibility to learn by reading the manual, getting a mic(you kinda need one) and sticking to be a basic infantry guy and staying away from vehicles and specialized weapon kits.

Good luck and have fun :)

Good Morning,

Regarding population, click on the PRSPY link/button at the top of this page and monitor the population. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

Regarding attitude, that is a bit of a minefield in discussion. While there are a number of players out there that are friendly, welcoming, and otherwise just regular guys wanting to let off steam at the end of a long work day, you also have your arrogant elitists. I would say that you will find people more willing to help and talk to you if you have a microphone. The reason for this is that, people hide behind text all day long on the phone texting, facebook, and other text only methods. When they talk to you, they make a stronger connection and have some investment in the relationship. You will find that SL's and Commanders, while they may have a contentious relationship, they usually work together because they can verbally talk. Server admin's and squad members that can't verbally talk will use text and hide behind it to beat you over the head sometimes leaving you with a "where the hell did that come from" kind of feeling.

Beware of the weekend when chemical use is high causing increased drama.

Outside of all the above, the game is fun and challenging in it's own right. The devs have done something of beauty on their own time from their own passion. Whenever you have that mixture, it is most always a thing of beauty.

Ask Wicca about new player training. He'll ease you into the mod.

Of course, as a client you do not have to worry about what operating system a server is running on.

Any serious Clan and Squadleader will ask you to use your microphone. You should really look into getting one/using it. Without a microphone, you are nothing :) Bad english is no problem.

My mic doesn't work in the game, even though it works fine in the menu mic test. Disappointing.

It gets pretty easy to get into PR and get used to it. For me, when I started playing PR (Was back a good few years ago.) was easy for me to get into. But looks like Chinese servers/Russian servers might be the way to go for you. Unless you connect to FCV LA or something.

There are a lot of squad leaders that help a lot of players out. But of course, there are those who kick people from squads for not having a mic.

But I don't really care if someone doesn't have a mic, they have to follow orders though. (But it kind of helps me out so my squad doesn't get blown up from us not being able to hear a tank coming, cause of my squad mates talking about random ****).

As long as you follow every order and not wander off, get stuff your sql doesn't want you to get, you will be good to go!!!
