Stuttering Movement

Post by Elyon »

Now I have tried to read up on this and haven't found anything particular other than oh maybe it's you're cpu or your computer isn't good enough but in reality I am getting like 45 fps at all time on high/med settings with a ping of 40. So I have no idea what's going on.
Here is a video of what's happening.

It is more towards the end and is usually worse but you can see my guy rubber-banding and sometime when I aim down site it takes a while and is all glitchy.

That must be annoying to play with, let's try to get you fixed.

Does it happen in other games?
Does it happen in a local singleplayer PR game against bots?

1. Post your system specs,
Start PRLauncher, click->Support->Copy to Clipboard button.
Paste everything in this thread.

some general possible problems:
1. your network adaptor drivers are out of date.
2. your HDD is full
3. pagefile is wrong size, fragmented, or non existent.
4. HDD is highly fragmented (PR files particularly are compressed, which can be a problem if fragmented)
5. A notebook? Does it have two GPUs, are you sure you're using discrete GPU?
6. Your background programs are stealing CPU cycles. Search bitsum processlasso on this forum to see how to use it.
7. Download and use Razer Gamebooster to shutdown background processes.
8. Turn off Windows UI options to free up GPU memory.
9. Your windows Power settings are using Power Savings mode.

post your system specs and we'll figure it out.

It doesn't happen in other games and it doesn't happen in single-player I will try some of the general things you posted but some of most of them don't pertain to me.

It could be EAX and your USB sound drivers interacting poorly.

Try turning off EAX and using another headset.speakers if you can,

There has been long term problem with USB headphones/headsets with PR... it's worth a shot, it's a quick troubleshoot.

It sucks that we can't ask if it happens with BF2 online anymore -_-*

Since it doesn't happen on local, I'm leaning towards packet loss or ping jitter, but since you report that it doesn't happen in other games... it's a bit perplexing

Well I updated my LAN drivers and turned EAX off, but to no avail it is still doing it. And I thought it would have something to do with my internet but I have a stable internet connection and my ping in the server I play in is usually around 30. Any other suggestions? Also I have noticed when I close my game it tends to crash not actually shut down maybe it has something to do with it?

Try disconnecting your headset before starting PR.

Which antivirus do you have? which firewall?

Try downloading bitsum processlasso x64 free version and installing it. https://bitsum.com/processlasso/
set PRbf2.exe and PRLauncher.exe to gaming mode in processlasso. https://bitsum.com/docs/pl/Gaming%20mode/

Well, once again I tried both of your suggestions and I mean it seemed better but it wasn't the same like fluid movement like I would get on single player it's still jerky not as much teleporting though. Anyways I might have to just set this one aside for now. I am thinking of doing a fresh install on my computer soon, so well have to see then. Anyways thanks for your time and suggestions.

It's excactly like that all the time here too. But it doesn't bother me too much. I actually thought it was supposed to be like this hehe (old engine and all that)

MIght want to try locking your FPS for PRBF2.exe to 45 FPS inside the NVidia Control panel, or use Nvidia Inspector (by adding the PRBF2.exe to the BattleField 2 preset game profile.)

I'm almost certain it's a CPU bottleneck though.
Elyon, If you OC your FX-6300 to stay at 4.1Ghz at all times, I bet this problem will disappear.
I think your FX CPU is using the auto turbo , and switching between turbo and non-turbo mode repeatedly, due to the rapid swings in computing demand that the PR mod puts on the CPU.

So its not supposed to be like this? I had the same issue since forever and just assumed its, well, a feature of old game.

I did watch the video again, and it doesn't happend this much / big here.
But every gameplay video I watched of someone playing this online, you always get that "warp" when you zoom and sometimes when you turn around.
It's an old engine, and I do remember BF2 back in 2005 was like this too.
It usually happends sometimes when there are a lot of players on the server.
And PR is pushing it to the limits: 100 players!
