I installed a file to allow me to play vanilla bf2, didn't work right, so I uninstalled it. It was from battlelog.co project Revive BF2. after I uninstalled it, project reality doesn't work. It lets me log in, then the video comes up, then the I see the cursor and a black screen and menu music and it crashes to desktop. says prbf2 unloading resources. I completely uninstalled everything, reinstalled bf2 downloaded pr 1.2 and It still does the same thing. Uninstalled 3 times, still the same. I'm screwed. Need help.

Open the windows hosts in windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts by right-clicking on it and open in notepad.
Bf2 revive addes entries to it
The untouched hosts looks like this
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

Did you try deleting your profile in My Documents -> Battlefield 2 and then retrieve the old one? Just a guess

Re: Revive BF2 conflict
First make sure every possible thing from BF2, PR, AIX and any other BF2mod is uninstalled, there were remenantes of the ReviveBF2 in everything related to BF2 I had. Reinstall, then you edit the host file. not sure if you should edit first, or reinstall first. best guess would be to edit first then reinstall.Jutsch wrote:I don't get it, i uninstalled RBF2 and i'm currently reinstalling BF2 and PR. (I did it backwards, but it worked so I didn't care to wait for 2 hours to reinstall again, because I had already did it 3X)
Anyway, to edit the host file, first copy the file to your desktop and change the name to use as a backup. then I did a google search, for the file, found the contents on the microsoft website, opened the host file up in notepad, deleted the contents, copied and pasted the contents from microsoft to the notepad(which look similar, if not the same as what arab posted) save the file (overwrite it). It should work after this. be sure to search for your specific version of windows (vista, xp, 7,
