now, all I get is a spinning dog tag.

here's the quote from the other thread.. https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr-bf2-support/117059-debug-assertion-failed.html
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1846315']That looks like a failed installation of PR.

How did you download the PR installation files? Torrents, Desura, various download websites? Let us know so we can check to see if the files on any servers have been corrupted so this doesn''t happen to others, thanks.

First step is to check the file integrity of the PR installers.
The hashes are located here:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ashes.html
Use a MD5 or SHA-256 hash checker of choice to check your installation files, then report back.

You're running a beat version of a 2 year release of your video drivers,
go download new drivers and install them. DO NOT INSTALL RAPTR bloatware when updating your drivers.

If you are running any type of overlay software, turn it off completely. This includes Steam community overlay, and the bloatware RAPTR that is included in new AMD driver packages. Overwolf and Afterburner can also cause problems.

Reboot.

IN PRlauncher->Options->Untick the fullscreen box, CLICK APPLY.
run PR in windowed mode to test.

Let me know what happens.

thanks for the quick reply. I will update the drivers and no, I don't have raptr or any other junk/bloatware. my system is pretty bare when it comes to that stuff.

only question is, and I know we wont know until I update and test, is why out of the blue would a driver update cause this?

be back soon

Well, trying to reduce possible causes and you really should update drivers anyway, the current drivers aren't beat (typo on my part), they are beta drivers from 2 years ago , are not WHQL certified.

When you run in windowed mode, if PR crashes there will be a windows pop up message with a specific error message, , screencapture or write down error message and post it here. Will narrow down the problem very quickly.

no errors: but when I tried it back in full screen I got nothing but the spinning dog tags?

seems a uninstall/reinstall is in order here. thing that has me curious is if that other persons corrupted files had anything to do with this? game was all good until today?

Get it out of your head that other people's files matter to you. That's NOT the case. That's NEVER the case.

Also, you have NO corrupt files. So, you don't need to uninstall/reinstall.

--------------

Do you install the vanilla BF2 battlelog.co ReviveBF2 launcher??? <-- please answer, my best guess as to cause of problem....

If you did, you need to fix your HOSTS file, their workaround is breaking PRLauncher's ability to redirect the BF2 login process to the gamespy replacement servers hosted by PR Dev team.

negative. no launchers of any type. and as I said earlier, this system is bare bones as far as programs go. no anti virus(just windows defender)no bloatware(this is a a build)so nothing running out of the ordinary.

like I said, until today, all good. never had any issues.

interesting. I'm generally pretty savoy at figuring things out but this has me at a stand still. it was suggested not to to a uninstall/reinstall but it's bad enough dealing with server crashes, now this.

it isn't my system I'm sure of that. this is a well running system and until today had run PR flawlessly..

figured I would give it another try and started the game, intro then the dog tags (along with music) were spinning and after about a min I was in to the menu screen.

something is up, don't know what it is but something was/is not quite right?

in FCV now, so all good.

for now?

I could have sworn I posted this already...
The same problem (long load time on startup, unresponsive menues) popped up in FH2 today, which leads me to believe that it is linked to the account server we now share.

Happened to me now. I haven't modified anything in the BF2 directory since the v1.2 update (was updating). As far as running programs they're the typical programs I run everyday (chrome, winscp, git bash,

Ts4EVER might have a lead, do not know though. That's the only thing I can guess of.

I too am now having CTD just before main menu appearing on v1.2.1.0.
I load PR via the Launcher, I then see about 3 minutes of black screen, then a flicker of the PR cursor and bam CTD.
Before latest game update, everything was fine, game loaded fine and ran smoothly.
I have changed nothing and have the same programs running iv always had.
