Freeze after clicking 'update servers'

Post by MCI »

Hiya, PR forums.

First off don't eat me, I've done a quick search and couldn't find anything on it. :)

My PR worked just fine (except from the problem with connection 5 sec. freeze every 5 min) but today when I tried to fire it up it froze on me.

I start up the game, go multiplayer and then the second I hit update servers it just gets stuck right there. I have let it sit for well over 10 minutes for several times but no luck.

Could anyone be so kind to help me think of a solution for this problem?

When was the last time PR worked? (and was it before or after the 1.2.1 update ? (2014/07/27) )

Make sure A/V and firewall is not blocking PRBF2.exe and PRLauncher.exe . It's advisable to make a specific exception for both also. AVG specifically has been blocking our .exe files since the update.

When you start PRLauncher, does the news ticker scroll on the bottom of the launcher?

When you click update, PRBF2.exe is trying to connect to the PR MasterServer that replaced GameSpy master servers.

Did you install battlelog.co ReviveBF2 Launcher? If yes, tell me, we have to manually fix a bug in their software that blocks PR and FH2.

Last friday without any major problems and I can still play through 'join by ip' but the update serverlist makes it freeze up somehow.

AVG not installed, PR is on the exception list.

Aye

No I do not have that installed.

TCP port: 28900 (Master Server List Request) is blocked.

IDK why it is blocked on your system, and AncientMan hasn't given me much info on how to fix this with his new PRLauncher and private PRMasterServer.

A working solution, but not a permanent fix, is to do the following:
Open web browser, go to PRSPY webpage
- connecting via PRSPY: Game starts, then shows this message "Your connection to the server has been lost."
Keep PR open.
alt-tab back to web browser
Connect to server again using PRSPY.

Thanks LITOralis.nMd! I joined by IP and that worked fine.

I did a driverupdate on my Network Driver and that did the trick.
