They're wonderful ideas. So wonderful, that I am wet.obpmgmua wrote:Taking away the scopes from the IDF was stupid idea. Taking the scopes away from the russians is even dumber. Unless you alleviate it somehow by replacing the scoped rifleman with Unlimited Spawnable SVD with the correct scope. Because AFAIK the russians field 1 svd for every squad. Would it be more realistic? Probably. Would it be balanced? Not likely.
But giving the Russians unlimited SVD in game to somehow compensate for it is a full-(developmentally-disabled-person) idea. In a conventional motor-rifle platoon there is 1 SVD. There might be one per section in the VDV (source is a bit dated), but they are practically a service unto themselves. So, it would be neither more realistic, nor balanced. The limitations on the marksman kit are sufficient to suspend disbelief about the number of SVDs in play.

Re: IDF have too few scopes!
Sorry for kicking up this topic, but is IDF getting scopes on their grenadier/MG/AR as well? Beirut is pretty hard fighting on long distances without scopes on those kits

even on proper scope teams, I quite like ironsight grenadier, bullets in CQB, grenades on long range

Re: IDF have too few scopes!
That's why there is an ALT kit. Currently, there is no choice and that really hinders me as grenadier or MG/AR as I can barely make out if an infantryman is hostile or friendly on 50m>
From 150m , you have to watch individual pixels to change to see if there is something moving.
The Russian faction on Beirut however, got scopes on almost all kits and often enough, I get shot from like 150m.

Re: IDF have too few scopes!
From my experience, target acquisition is a nightmare with the IDF LMGs and MMGs. The iron sights block a lot of your view and the guns jump around a lot from the recoil, making it really difficult to track and shoot targets. I've seem many IDF squads where no one wants to take either of these guns.
Do the IDF ever mount aimpoint sights on their LMGs or MMGs? That would certainly make the weapons more usuable in game but I'm not sure if it would be realistic.

fatalsushi83, in my experience on Falklands map FN MAG ironsights were really decent, becouse of how "sharp" they are it's really easy to aim at the long ranges. On the other hand Negev's irons are pretty terrible for the long ranges, so I would rather take a scoped rifleman class.

Re: IDF have too few scopes!
On Beirut, if you inf layout where IDF has to hold South City ( I think) and next flag is the Railway , it's about 250m distance between those flags with no direct cover. As IDF in the building defending, you can barely look out before a PKP gets you. And that magnified reflex sight is useless for grenadier as it blocks your view if you shoot at 50m or 100m with grenades.

Re: IDF have too few scopes!
is it possible to change the ctar to mtar the army now days use only the mtar
or even removing the m16 and putting an option ctar as std and mtar as alt
we dont use the m16 anymore only on boot camp and even there they are changing it to mtar

Totally with you, I feel like taking the iron sights incentivizes you to use the GL more and not just act like a rifleman. Also the American alt grenadier is totally badass.[R-DEV]Rudd wrote:even on proper scope teams, I quite like ironsight grenadier, bullets in CQB, grenades on long range![]()

But why shouldnt there be a choice for the IDF whereas most other factions do have a choice whether they can go unscoped or scoped?Boogeyman2 wrote:Totally with you, I feel like taking the iron sights incentivizes you to use the GL more and not just act like a rifleman. I think so especially since the red dot on the standard kit blocks your view at some ranges :/Tankbuster28000 wrote:But why shouldnt there be a choice for the IDF whereas most other factions do have a choice whether they can go unscoped or scoped?

The IDF aimpoint belongs to the best/smallest ingame. If you have any ironsight/scope that would cover up the least of your vision, then it would be the 4x aimpoint of the Israelis.

He's talking about the grenadier kit I guess. Grenadier kit with the aimpoint blocks grenadier view if you aim at 50m or 100m.Spook wrote:The IDF aimpoint belongs to the best/smallest ingame. I don't think there is a other kit which view is hindered by the aimpoint

I liked the FN MAG as well. The sights were definitely very usable and you could pick people of at extreme ranges.Unhealed wrote:fatalsushi83, in my experience on Falklands map FN MAG ironsights were really decent, becouse of how "sharp" they are it's really easy to aim at the long ranges.
