Community Leadership PLEASE

Post by RAWSwampFox »

Good Afternoon,

With the complete understanding that PR spans many continents, cultures, races, creeds, and colors can we at least put together some kind of community leadership that has limited or no limited powers across the board?

If we can't do this, can we do some kind of standardized rating system that should/must be included in the server title? Something along the lines of what the movies use but instead something that reflects some kind of community guidelines?

Reason, I get  or  or  or :-P or :o ops: when I get on various servers due to the extreme variety in server rules. Every server says go to the website to read the full rules. That is very much like telling everyone that plays PR to go read the manual which no one does so how do server admins expect players to go read something that is not readily, visible, and in their face on the server?

Result, I strongly feel that it would provide better unity, more continuity, deeper understanding, stronger tactics and higher camaraderie. The end result of this would allow for better relationships between admins, players, and servers IMO.

You're gonna have to explain what you mean by "limited or no limited powers across the board".

He wants all servers to enforce the same rules.

Fox spend some time on the most popular servers and soon enough you will known the rules on the respective server. If your in doubt ask the admin on duty or other players in your squad. And if this all fails go to the SERVER forum section on this forum. Every respectable popular server has their own thread infused in which you most likely will be able to find the rules or ask questions about any doubts or uncertainties you might have.

I think FCV has 2 servers up most days. They most likely have the same rules. Thats probably as close as you get.

hes not asking where to find the server rules. hes saying that the majority of players dont read the server rules when they join a server.

The point swampfox is trying to make is a good one i think. Extending on what swampfox said, my thought is this: rather than scrounging through a whole list of rules just to see if you can shoot here, or put mortars there (examples), perhaps divide the server rules into 3 or 4 different categories for example, [RELAXED] [REALISM] [STRICT] [EVENT] etc..

Since many servers share the same rules (no glitching cheating hacking, one man vehicles...) this system would help highlight the key differences that often cause conflct and kicks/bans.

The downsides that i can see to this idea would be getting all the servers on board with the idea. if the devs were willing to maybe not enforce, but highly recommend an idea like this to server owners, that could help greatly as people would just have to go to a stickyed thread on the PR forums to check the rules for that server.

Other downsides:
-less traffic on clan/server websites
-uncommon or unlikely rules would be hard to implement. perhaps breaking this system

swampfox has a good idea here, and i dont think it deserves to be brushed off like it almost did. I think that this idea has alot of potential to help the community, especially new-comers. i would like to hear what other ideas and suggestions people have for this system. would type more but i gotta go to work!

Or maybe servers should use their server description box when loading the map with information about rules specific to this server. For example:
HOG: Squads 1:30 / Asset Rule: Yes
FCV: Squads 2:00 / Asset Rule: Yes
NEW: Squads 3:00 / Asset Rule: No (now it's Yes, but it was No a while ago, just for example)

yeah, having all servers with the same rules would be good sometimes. Especially rushing or squad timer and stuff like that...

On the other hand it is good that some servers for example allow rushing and some dont, so there are some variations in gameplay.

Good Morning,

Yes, paul got the gist of what I was saying. I sometimes don't articulate but I like that we are having this discussion.

Patrick has a good example regarding short and to the point intro. I also like Paul's example of relaxed, strict, etc.

I'm not looking for all servers to enforce the same rules but am looking for something that would eliminate the redundancy and provide more clarification on terms. Example, no cheating, glitching, or hacking is across the board usually. Also, respect, be fair, friendly, etcs. is also across the board. Put something together that would allow for this type of stuff not to clutter up the lawbooks of rules on everyone's website. I mean, really right now the only reason people go to a server's website is to complain about a ban after reading the rules to justify their position. I believe that this is about 90% of all the public posts on server websites. Now the buddies in the clan that have their own private area may joke and kid around with different things but that is not seen by the general public.

Lastly, some clearer definition of terms. For example, heavy assets on some servers mean just the vehicles that take special kits, on other servers it means FOB assets.

Does that make more sense?

To be honest, I've never had any problems with server rules. I just play the game and don't do anything stupid. By doing that, I've never been yelled at by any server admin.

Good Afternoon,

It's not so much about any problems that anyone may or may not have but rather a simplification of the rules. More to the point, to get rid of redundant terms and/or rules that are present in any server rules. A basic set of expectations set forth by the community and included maybe in the server license so to speak that every server will enforce. Outside of this, let each server set their own rules.

I would hope that the rules that would be enforced across the board would allow for all the other 500+ pages of rules that every server/clan has on their website could be placed within the small section of the !rules or intro screen of each server. Does this make sense?

If there's something that should be standerized in all servers across the board, is the damned time for squads!

That would be helpful alright because on some servers even if one types in !rules it doesn't really tells you jack shit.

And running people over should be forbidden on every server too

Base rape rules should be kinda standardized or explained better on most servers as well. For example, on some servers it is not allowed to kill an enemy jet flying over their base under 1000 alt, but on some it's allowed to kill the anywhere as long as they are not taking off or landing.

Good Afternoon,

The only thing I have to say to this is that this indicates to me that you are not very curious about the workings of the game and that you only play within a box. This isn't a bad thing but I have found that most of my issues are when I am SL and it is extremely rare that I have any run-in with admins as a squad member.

I have also found that most of my run-ins with admins are when they are chemically imbalanced on the weekends. :-P

I see what you saying now. Lol

What I am sort of getting: "There should be 'standard rules' for every server. "

Example.
You must use mumble.
Or
You have to name assets correctly.

Those I think should be STANDARD rules that all servers should/must follow.

But yeah, I get what you talking about.
