Re: First map you played
I had my first offline experiences on ?Airfield? and Muttrah City v1. My first round online was way later on Ejod Desert. I joined an english speaking squad on US Army side and told them, after a brief moment of hesitating, in my not so good english, that i'm new to the game ... they welcomed me with open arms and taught me the basics of PR. I still remember this epicness with the Strykers covering the push of the infantery on open ground towards the Gas Station - it blew my mind back then.

I think my first experience was muttrah city on mec. I spawned at main took a AR and tried to drive a BTR. About 10 minutes later next round on al barash I accidentally blew up a cache with grenade traps.Needless the say I decided to read the manual a bit more....

Falujah I think...playing when the enemy could still taunt you on local mumble after they had mashed you.
Joined a squad of insurgents late night and clearly a bit pissed/stoned and just all talking shit and laughing and I was in the mood too so felt quite at home...some Scousers I think. I had no idea of the weapons coming from BF2 but got a rocket launcher and was in the civi car sticking out the top when we stumble on a Bradley/apc thing not facing us and we tail it in the car and everyone is yelling at me SHOOOOOT FFS and me (not realizing the enormity of the situation like I do now) was calm and we almost rear ended the thing before I shot. Hit!. Boom. Much hilarity and high fiveing and I was hooked.

EJOD Desert...
I remember, I had not fully understood the concept of PR yet, so I jumped out of a moving truck... *DEAD*.
Then I saw respawn time... *RAGE QUIT* xD
I came back later in a tournament, and then I started really enjoying PR.

Helmand Province back in the day, then old style Muttrah. Good bloody times. PR has a special place in my gaming life.

You used to be able to shoot them with 5.56 to death, it took about 1 or 2 LMG magazines to kill it (or the squad of 6 just laying 1 mag each in). They were buffed immensely in later patches to balance the game.matty1053 wrote:Wait, you can blow up a cache with grenade traps???

Re: First map you played
I kinda want to share my first deployment experience. I think it was on Dragon Fly back in 0.97. When I joined in I was put in the Militia team, and man did I gasp when I saw a PPSH-41 on the specialist kit. I immediately joined a squad to take that gun, not having mumble off course. I said "Hi guys" in the chat and they asked me if I was on mumble. My reply was "What is mumble?". So they told me to go and download it but I didn't want to, I just wanted to play(Silly me
). And then I proceeded to go on patrol. So I saw a guy that was unaware of my position(He was a friendly of course). So I crouched down, and started firing, by the time he could yell "Check fire!" he was already dead.
Guess you can say I was a real gem back then.
P.S. I know my storytelling sucks, deal with it.

Re: First map you played
I don't remember specificly but started playing late 0.97 (couple of months before 1.0) I think it was either a desert map or something like korengal. This just shows how awesomely bad my memory is... can't even remember what the hell I did
I do remember being quite anxious about people being able to hear me, so I would join a full server and leave immediatly because I thought they couldnt hear me/I did something wrong. Spent a lot of time on the co-op servers to try and get a sense of what everything is like, haven't really been able to fly choppers successfully yet...

Kashan Desert, and there was this [EU] clan that was constantly yelling at me because I was still in the Battlefield 2 mentality.

Maybe Ghost Train in 0.5. I fell in love with the game at that point.
