Server License App help

Post by HeadTrauma »

Hi guys.

I submitted an application about two weeks ago. I'd like to look at / amend or redo it (if necessary) as I think I may have entered some info incorrectly. Would that be possible, or could an admin reject my application so that I could submit a new1?

Apologies if this in the wrong section.

Thanks :o ops:

Application Process

Project Reality licenses can only be obtained by completing the application process in which your server must be approved by the Reality Studios staff. If you are granted a license, your server(s) will be closely monitored and any breach of the Project Reality License Agreement may result in your server being banned from running a Project Reality server.

Requirements

In order to apply for a Project Reality Server License, you must meet all of the requirements listed below. Submitting multiple applications may result in your application being denied, so please only submit one application and be patient while we review it.

A Project Reality Server License requires that server administrators meet the following requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must agree and understand the Project Reality Server License Agreement.
  • Must submit a completed Server License Application. All information will be verified before the application is approved.
  • Must keep all user and server information up to date. We closely monitor this information and will periodically check that servers meet all requirements outlined in the server license agreement. Licenses will be deleted without warning if, for example, servers are listed as being offline.
License Details
  • User Server License
User Licenses are for individual users, clans, and other small organizations who wish to host public and/or private (passworded) Project Reality Servers. By default, a single User License is allowed to add up to 3 game servers and 5 license moderators. These servers must be internet facing (i.e. respond to server queries), and hosted at a data-centre. We do not issue licenses for home hosted or LAN-only servers.

IMPORTANT: You must have a BF2 dedicated server running on the IP/port in your application. If no server is detected, the application cannot be processed and will be deleted.
License Moderators

Before applying, make sure you are the main administrator of the server that will be running Project Reality. If your application is accepted, you will be able to add a limited number of 'Moderators' to your license through the Server License CP. These moderators will be granted access to the Server Administration forums. Moderators can not access downloads and will not be able to download the actual Project Reality: Battlefield 2 Modification server files.

Server Moderators must agree and understand the Project Reality License Agreement before they are confirmed as moderators. You will be responsible for the actions of the server moderators you add, so make certain you only add moderators whom you thoroughly trust and know will abide by the license agreement. They are responsible for keeping their user information up to date as their information will also be periodically checked by Project Reality staff for accuracy.
Make sure you've met requirements.

Install vanilla BF2 server hosted in data center, and have it running properly, then register it at gametracker, and then apply for license. If you need any help regarding that ask.

For other questions a Manager must respond.

I declined the application, so you're free to re-apply. Sorry for the delay - I have limited access to the internet at the moment :(

Ok, we are having trouble getting the damn bf2 server up and running. Can get it going in LAN mode no problem, but as soon as we switch to internet and hit start we get this;

Google searching hasn't netted any helpful results.

Anybody able to assist or point us in the right direction?

Thnx

We are running Win Server 2008.

Thought maybe it was a punkbuster issue. Same thing happens with PB disabled.

post your serversettings.con in a code BBC ( hide IP with XXX if you dont want it shown )

Code: Select all

contents of file
Also check this and make sure netfw is enabled. This tutorial might help also. Check if you have Visual C++ redistributable installed.

Make sure it is allowed through the firewall and set your interface IP

sv.interfaceIP "197.XXX.XXX.XX" - the only culprit that may be in the config.

sv.allowNATNegotiation 0 - also try setting this to 0 ( zero )

Other is firewall, but that shouldn't crash it. Since gamespy is down, in game browser will not work, so you must use IP to connect to it.

Hm, are you sure you have all required installed? Running it as admin? I'm not sure what the problem may be, but it does look like a C+ error ( parsing cpp ). Try installing all of the C packages for 2005 till today. If your Win server is 64bit ( and probably is ) you will need both 32bit and 64bit installment of MS Visual C++ redistributable.

If I got it right, once you change sv.internet value to 1 it gives this error?

Can any of the actual server admins help? Since gamespy is down, I'm not sure what is going on with vanilla BF2 servers, since they use PB and gamespy services.

Only thing that I could think of is to run it without PB, and remove sv.gameSpyPort value, and set sv.interface IP to "0.0.0.0"

MaSSive thanks for the suggestions.

Yes it happens when you click start after enabling internet "mode"

Will give your suggestions a bash and feedback. If any actual server admins could have a look and share ideas it would be a great help.

Cheers

Hey HeadTrauma,

I just compared our serversettings.con file to yours, I haven't done any actual work on servers in a few months, but you have a few values in there that are not present in ours, like sv.friendlyFireWithMines 0 and some others.

A few possible solutions:

- Make sure you're running the correct server version (1.5.3153.0 if I'm not mistaken), from the values in your config I somehow think you might be running a different server version of the bf2 dedi server.

- Make sure that your ports are set up correctly in the firewall (it seems you have checked this)

- We don't have our interfaceIP set, you can leave that blank to rule out any issues with it

What happens if you don't use the launcher?

============================================================================
IIa. Configuring and starting the Windows server using the server executable
============================================================================

It is possible to start the server without using the Server Launcher GUI. This is done by creating a shortcut to the server executable (BF2_w32ded.exe) and applying startup parameters to it. The syntax for the parameters are as follows:

+config <path to serversettings.con file>
+mapList <path to maplist.con file>"

Example:

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2 Server\BF2_w32ded.exe" +config C:\serversettings.con +mapList C:\maplist.con

This setup is designed primarily for Ranked Server Partners. For individual servers it is more convenient to use the Server Launcher.

Ive just tried to start the server and got the same error myself. Has something to do with gamespy down probably, so this one needs to be reviewed by server admins or support technicians, as nobody can apply for server license if this problem persists.

I also had the same problem! As our friend "Massive" he said, probably because there no is more to GameSpy BF2. But you get the license, you can leave set to:
sv.internet 0
Because the server is online even for internet (MYSELF TESTED), it just does not appear in the list of servers within the BF2 ... (To test if it is working, you can add your server in GameTracker!)
Example, my server in my internet/computer: http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ ... 191:16567/

Maybe the R-DEV could tell in order to use "sv.internet 0" because if set to "sv.internet 1" NEVER server will stay online!
