PR Mumble or any VOIP not working.

I downloaded PR yesterday got in game and everything was working completely fine, squad chat local chat everything was working good had a bunch of good games, I turn my computer off at night and come back this morning to find absolutely nothing works.

PR mumble shows it's little disconnected icon regardless of the server I use, I kill the pr mumble process and it restarts still not working.

Nothing that uses push-to-talk works in PR for me, even with the game run in windowed.
(Skype, regular mumble, steam voip)

I've tried using a HTTPS proxy for the PR mumble to see if ISP was blocking ports, still didn't work.

I've tried turning off QoS

What I don't get is how it goes from working fine to completely broken in under 24 hours without me doing anything..?

WASAPIInit: Requires Vista SP1

Looks like you are running PRMumble in WinXP compatibility mode.
That is bad.

C:/Program Files (x86)/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/mods/pr/bin/PRMumble/PRMumble.exe , right click, change to run without compatibility. click apply.

test it.

That only worked for a brief about 20 seconds, I got in game the little blue speaker icon appeared and it was transmitting voip then after about 20 seconds it disconnected again..

Update: If I play a you tube video (on firefox) in the background like music, once I get in game the video and mumble will keep working for about a minute, then on cue, the you tube video will cut out and mumble will cut out with it, then the background youtube video will start playing but mumble remains disconnected.
This doesn't happen randomly, it happens every single time.

Is this a router/packet issue? Do I need to force Tcp? open a port? update something?

Honestly, I am stumped.

General questions:
What audio are you using? Onboard motherboard audio? DAC? 3.5mm headset, USB headset, wireless headset?

Do you have enough download bandwidth?

Is PRMumble disconnecting from the server, or is it just not receiviing audio, the best you can tell?


Inside PRMumble, Configure->Settings->Tick the Advanced tickbox in bottom left->Audio OUtput->INcrease the Default Jitter Buffer to 30ms->Click Apply.

We're on the same track of troubleshooting ... it's probably TCP,

You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling your Audio chipset drivers completely.

find your audio chipset drivers from your motherboard

More than sufficient me thinks.

2. It must be disconnecting completely or causing a temporary lapse in the connection? maybe causing a switch to occur in the network since it interrupts a browser connection as well? perhaps a java/python/html error in there?
Whatever is going on, it works just fine until I press my local or squad or any button that will cause mumble to transmit voip, then it disconnects the you tube stuff and mumble will stay with the disconnect icon.

I hear the game and others just fine though.

3. Done, set to 30ms.

4. downloaded all are up-to-date.

Using some el-cheapo USB headphones for an MP3 player since my headsets keep breaking, using a Logitech webcam for the microphone which is set and was working yesterday just fine, works on everything else too and PR mumble is recognizing it.


thoughts: I'm thinking it's got to be connection related, however PR mumble is the only thing causing this, project reality in it self is the only game I have that isn't allowing me to transmit VOIP if I'm using a push-to-talk feature.

If I have a call over skype, people can hear me fine, if I set skype to push to talk (either with mouse of keyboard buttons) it will not work and transmit audio but will receive in game effects/music/voice and skype voice.

Edit: does mumble run a refresh at any given time, does the connection get checked and refreshed or updated? that's causing it to go to a new state then run that state in an infinite loop meaning it never goes back to the state it was when I first connected to a game?

E.g I run mumble for Vista SP1, I join a game mumble starts with Vista SP1 compatibility, mumble runs a refresh when I press PTT button, it changes to XP compatibility.. (this is a major stab in the dark I know)

or some tcp/ip Udp port/ip server connection error or something being interrupted I don't know..

Update don't panic too hard: Apparently out of the blue for absolutely no reason what so ever PR mumble has decided to now work in game, I don't know if the above solutions fixed it but here's the new console file:

Hello,
Mumble.com/GameVox.com have located an issue with Skype click to call creating thousands of certificates in the trusted root CA. They will be displayed as 'localhost'
Delete the certificates as shown here:

Here is how to get to the correct screen to delete the certs:
Click Start, click the Search box, type mmc, and then press ENTER.
On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
Under Available snap-ins, click Certificates,and then click Add.
Under This snap-in will always manage certificates for, click Computer account, and then click Next.
Click Local computer, and click Finish.
In the console tree, Expand Certificates.
Expand Trusted Root Certification Authorities store.
Click Certificates under "Trusted Root Certification Authorities store"
You fill find many certs listed that say localhost as shown here: http://i.imgur.com/r5XuhDT.png
These are the bugged Skype certs that need deleted.
If you delete so many at once it will take over 20 minutes

That is also a possible problem.
There is a registry tweak for this, the default value should be 0x1388 , which equals 5000ms (milliseconds)
Various ways to install this registry edit and I've forgotten all of them... (sorry)
Best I can offer real quick is to download and install this little utilitycalled AltDrag, the installer package download has the registry tweak option in the installer menus,

Edit: does mumble run a refresh at any given time, does the connection get checked and refreshed or updated? that's causing it to go to a new state then run that state in an infinite loop meaning it never goes back to the state it was when I first connected to a game?
So if you are connected to an online PR game server, and your PRMumble.exe either crashes or is manually closed down, the PRLauncher.exe running in the background will automatically restart the PRMumble.exe program and auto reconnect you to the correct Murmur server for whichever PR game server you are on.

(PR game servers have independent Murmur servers, however several PR server admins share Murmur servers to save money).

So going to the C:/Program Files (x86)/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/mods/pr/bin/PRMumble/PRMumble.exe and changing compatibility for all users (to no compatibility if you are using Vista) would solve the problem you're having there. Remember to APPLY the changed setting.

You could also try this to test:
Inside PRMumble, Configure->Settings->Tick the Advanced tickbox in bottom left->Audio OUtput->Tick the "Exclusive" tickbox next to the output device dropdown box. CLICK APPLY.
Join a server and test.

Here's my current mumble config for those who may stumble across this problem in future.
doing this and the many useful steps listed by LITOralis.nMd should get it fixed.
Remember to restart the computer before launching the game it is pretty vital, I've noticed that changes rarely take effect without a restart (just for me)


Firstly network settings should be:
