Who Can I Hire To Make PR:BF2 Maps?

Post by Bluedrake42 »

And what would your rates be? Not joking btw...
Looking for completely original maps, and possibly vanilla conversions.

My understanding is that it isn't legal to pay anyone to make maps for BF2 (and its mods) under the BF2 EULA.

Still illegal. But with Bluedrake's "status", I don't see why he wouldn't be able to help him out - just to be a broski.

Here let me put it this way... if you make maps for me, I'll cut you in on the ad revenue I get from Youtube (from playing PR.) If legality is an issue, we can do a million things to get around it.

What is it you're looking for, might I ask?

Anything... more maps. Honestly I would like to see all the Battlefield 2 vanilla maps updated to Project Reality, although perhaps maybe it would be best to wait until the next PR patch (so we don't have to update them twice.)

It would be cool if I could make suggestions and stuff, cause there's definitely types of maps I'd like to see (MORE AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULTS! ...& winter maps... OOO AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT WINTER MAPS!!) but yeah... I mean I obviously make money off of what you all do, so I think it would be kindof absurd to say I can't at least pay a few of you for your time to make custom new content.

I mean obviously we could work out some kind of deal, like I could feature it on my channel before anyone else has access to it or something... from a business standpoint its completely justified and viable.

You can hire the PR:BF2 team. Oh wait, they are already doing what you asking for free for 10 years now. Nevermind :D

It's against anything a mod's creative freedom stands for. It's right against the thing PR is. This is one of the worst idea's that has come to these forums as a request for more content.

If you need new content to make video's from, then perhaps cover other mods if you viewers are requiring 'new maps' to look at. I'd think your viewers are watching to see you playing though. The PR experience. Not the background. Or do mods of other games.

Many great things out there.

It doesn't have to be PR Devs, in fact I wasn't expecting it to be. Im asking anyone at all, not the PR Dev team specifically.

Keep in mind I don't expect this to be something that is officially included in PR... it would be a community developed addon for special servers/events. And since community development is something I think we'll need to be relying on a lot more in the near future, I have no problem incentivizing potential community devs to make custom content

Mineral's point still stands.

If you're looking for more content, start hanging around this forum section more. There are lots of people working on lots of maps, and occasionally want people to test them; if you can muster a full server they'd be pretty happy I bet.
Why not talk to K4on about using his retro mappack? That thing has what... five maps or something? There's also the Christmas map pack and such.

And there are lots of layers and maps not usually played anyway; when's the last time you played Burning Sands Insurgency?

If you mean the site donations, they only go towards running the site and SVN servers etc. We don't see a penny of it so that isn't really much of an incentive as I take it you mean it to be :p

Lol, I was going to ask you about exactly this! I might be able to help you out :)
It's pretty time consuming to make maps but I think it's possible to make a pretty decent non-urban map like woods or desert in about 1-2 weeks. Could even add smaller villages but not with the same quality as official maps. I can't promise anything right now as it all depends on when I'm free and motivated but If you have any ideas or suggestions please tell me and I might be able to start working on it soon. I can make an amphibious assault map but I'm not sure about winter maps yet as I have never made on before.

keep in mind though what I'm talking about is lower quality maps for special events with not as many details, villages and cities. That way I might be able to make more of them. If this is how you thought of it aswell then tell me what ideas you got or what you would like to see, and perhaps I can deliver :)

EDIT: Also the money don't interest me :)

I don't know why you guys are so harsh to him, I think what he's proposing is perfectly reasonable.

The only reason he's willing to pay for it is because he actually understands how time consuming it is. Mapping takes time and time is money. Since pp actually have jobs to do irl, he's willing to compensate for that. Lets not be too harsh guys :)
