Assault on Grozny
A PRTA map test event

Many thanks to Ason for letting us test his map
General map information
Grozny the Capital city of The Chechen Republic, is the hub of Chechnya and the gate to the Greater Caucasus mountain range. Situated on the river Sunzha in central Chechnya, it is truly a vital strategic point to control. After the fall of the Soviet Union, in 1991 the president of Chechnya unilaterally declared the republic's sovereignty and it's independence from the Soviet Union, but the city was captured by the Russians in 1995, marking an end to the 'First battle of Grozny'. In August 1996 under the command of Aslan Maskhadov, the Chechen rebels infiltrated and recaptured the city.

The russians have now sent a spearhead, consisting of everything from trucks to CAS to break the chechens and recapture the city. The chechens will have the upper-hand by being the defending side and having most of the city under their control. No matter who wins, the memories of this battle will haunt us all.

Practical information
The event will be held on Sunday 21st September, starting at 18:00 PRT. To ensure you have a spot we recommend that you're online on our TS-server (ts.prta.co) at least 30 minutes before the event starts.

The map can be downloaded here:

The server password will be ichkeria.

We had some internal testing on this map recently. Ason has been able to fix several things as a result of this, including the following:
  1. Fixed problems with localisation file, CP names now shows correctly on the map.
  2. corrected all CP names in the GPO files, they now have the correct name ie: 'cpname_assault_on_grozny...' instead of 'cpname_grozny_first...'.
  3. Removed Asian billboard at NW city entrance.
  4. Fixed Russian T-90 so it's no longer vbf2 style.
  5. Removed 'dead_us_soldier'.
  6. Added grids to minimap and changed brightness of airfield.
  7. Added loadingscreen music
  8. fixed top of flags sticking through the ground.
  9. Added map-overviews to all layers.

This sounds cool. After the fun on Nujiamaa yesterday I'll be sure to attend this event as well.

This map is beautiful. It captures the essence of war, it's dark, muddy and depressive. I love it.

Screenshots look nice indeed :D Fog values don't seem ideal and still have some worries about the performance but I'll surely come and test if I got time. Looks like a fun map!

I see the statics added a more destructive look which is nice. Hope you are optimizing the univermag to the best of your abilities Ason. I'm also a bit concerned about the density of enterables and just statics overall. I think it's going to be a performance killer in some areas. But having said that, it's a map with great atmosphere and I'm looking forward to give it a go.

Damn, so many new maps :) Nuijamaa was really fun to play though I left early, so I'll be looking to attend this event as well.

Huge respect to you ason. The atmosphere is just perfect, lets just hope that it wont loose some of its atmosphere after optimizing.

Project reality doesnt recognize this map. i put map in pr level folder and make folder called assult on gozny and put all files from winrar in there go to game and try to go to server but it says i dont have this map.

I dont think you need to make your own level folder, but it should go like this

levels>grozny> in here should be server.zip, client.zip and info folder

so yours might be

levels>grozny>grozny> then the files

so just double check

folder has to be named right. assault_on_grozny. Then copy paste all files in this folder as they appear in the zip.

Then it will work.

folder is named right. do i have to extract those files out of winrar too? like client winrar file, common_client, objects_client,objects_server,server. I checked other maps folder and most of stuff is in winrar.

No. In the assault_on_grozny you need to have info folder, client and server zip and the other zips.

yes those files are there but game dont recognize map.
